I have legit spent the last six hours of my life trying to beat ONE FUCKING BOSS in FFXIII.

Six hours, four tall alcoholic drinks, lots of leveling, and eight thousand strategies later, I have defeated the pope bride.

Ugh, I remember that boss battle the opposite of fondly as well. I think we hit on a similar strategy to the one you used. Also I *love* Sazh and was equally irritated by the sudden and pointless death of Jihl Nabaat.

Like I said above, I actually FORGOT about JIHL because this boss took so many times to beat (I was skipping the cut scene). But I was also very bothered once I realized she was actually dead and gone -- I think my head assumed the pope bride had just sort of cast her aside, not actually *discarded* her.

Um, yeah, this game is very high difficulty in my opinion, and while some of it is the "fun rewarding" kind of difficulty, some of it is this annoying, tricky, "don't know the exact series of things to do because you don't want to play out of an FAQ? DEAD."

Blargh, I hated that fight. HATEDDDDDDDDD. Destrudo or whatever the "hahahaha U DED NOW *trollface*" attack is called is cheap and lame and I think I may have thrown a controller or two in the process of finishing that motherfucker off. Son of a bitch.

Also: SAZH IS AMAZING. Just. Everything about him rocks. And I would have gladly traded El Trollface Final Boss for a chance to kick the stuffing out of Jihl. Preferably using Sazh. *daydreams*

Jihl was a much better villain story-wise, imo. More story-relevant, easier to hate (WHAT SHE DID TO DAJH DKFJSDL:KFJD:FLKSDJ I KILL YOU NOW BITCH), easier to tie into the idea that seemed to run through the whole game that "humans can be awesome or eeeeevil, it's a matter of choice, and they're not that different from each other." It would have been so delicious to kick the crap out of her - vengeance plus catharsis plus sheer fun. And she'd at least be able to banter with the party mid-fight, instead of "BUA HA HA PUNY MORTALS."

But nooooo, we get the typical "fight a god-type-thing with a complex" crap they've been doing for the last how many games? *grump*
