The three Turks stood around the coffin in a nervous huddle. Elena didn't like it down here at all - blood and brains and bits of bone she could easily handle, but cobwebs and spiders gave her the crawling heebies - and would have rather been pretty much anywhere else at the moment. She didn't have much of a say in the matter, though. Reno was currently leading, Reno had found the key upstairs, and Reno's insatiable curiosity was what had decreed they go take a peek at whatever lurked in the mouldering bowels of the Shinra Mansion's basement. It didn't surprise Elena that they had found a body down here; the entire place was rife with secrets and ghosts. The comatose cape-wearing weirdo in the coffin was probably the least strange thing they'd stumbled across, truth be told ( ... )

Really, it's a lovely snippet. I loved all the little details too - condensation on Reno's gun, Elena wipping the back of her mouth. They're the kind of details a lot of people would forget to put into their description but you sneak them in quite nicely. Overall, it gives a really cohesive feel to the story.
Ha, sorry, that was a little over-the-top for a snippet review! I got carried away. In the end, suffice it to say that I love it. XD

Veld had already told Tseng not to follow him, he expected a different one of his kids to be arguing with him. Not angelface Anna, though, because out of most of them, she really understood the job and took it seriouslyBut then, she wasn't pleading her case ( ... )

Awesome, Cendri. You made it work. It seems so very Anna to make a kiss into a lesson. Flipping Veld's protective old-man complex onto its head. Lovely.
(I wonder what Tseng would say if he knew that Anna were pleading his case. XD)

I'm afraid that I'm missing something in it though. Sometimes I found it difficult to tell which of the two women were speaking, making me feel like I was missing something of their conversation. Still, with all that wonderful smirking, I almost enjoyed feeling like they were talking over my head. As if they were sharing information that only they should be priviledged to.
Hrm, favourite lines ... your references to what part of Aeris was her mother and her father. How Elena was undefined in her unit. And guardians, naturally.
Oh, and I loved that cute little kiss at the end (naturally, since this is a kissing meme!) Nice ending note.
