Fandom: taking back Valentine's Day since 2008!

Veld/Anna (aka Gun(F) in Before Crisis)

"He looks up to you! How can you just take off like this?!"

Veld had already told Tseng not to follow him, he expected a different one of his kids to be arguing with him. Not angelface Anna, though, because out of most of them, she really understood the job and took it seriously.

But then, she wasn't pleading her case.

"Anna, what I'm doing shouldn't--"

"Affect us? If you ask any of them what they'd gladly go to their deaths for, it isn't Shinra."

He was a little taken aback, but he didn't let it show.

"It's something I should have done a long time ago. Don't concern yourself with me, kid."

She still didn't look satisfied, so he bent down to give her a kiss on the forehead, like the pseudo-father he seemed to be for all of them. Even those that had parents didn't tend to speak with them--the Turks were just a bunch of kids these days, really. Lost kids.

So when she leaned up into it, kissing him back with a little more force than necessary, he was surprised.

"Anna..."

"We're not kids, Veld, but it doesn't mean that some of us still don't need you. Remember that."

He couldn't help but be a little proud at that.

Awesome, Cendri. You made it work. It seems so very Anna to make a kiss into a lesson. Flipping Veld's protective old-man complex onto its head. Lovely.

(I wonder what Tseng would say if he knew that Anna were pleading his case. XD)
