Fandom: taking back Valentine's Day since 2008!
So last year
bottle-of-shine had a Kissing Battle. The last edition is
here (EDITED TO ADD: this is the old battle, not the current one!). It was a lot of fun and might be known around FF-fandom circles as the best Meme ever**.
Pretty much everyone I know is stressed about something, too, so this round of the

Finally, the midwife opened the door, and fluttered to Maduin’s side.
“The baby’s here, perfectly healthy!” The midwife announced with great happiness. “Your wife is waiting for you.”
Maduin wasted no time rushing inside the room, where Madonna rested on the bed. She was glittering with sweat, and her eyes sparkled with joy.
“It’s a girl.” Madonna breathed hard, smiling, exhausted from her long labor.
Maduin leaned over her and the little bundle in her arms. His daughter. His little girl. He could feel his heart swell within his chest. His huge hands lightly brushed the baby’s cheek, as the infant reflexively turned her open mouth to his fingers.
“Have we thought of a name?” Madonna asked.
“Terra,” Maduin answered. “How about Terra?”
“I like it.” Madonna nodded.
Maduin leaned over and kissed Madonna, then kissed his daughter on the forehead.

"Cid? Is everything all right with Cloud and Tifa?"
"Yeah, babe. Everything's fine. We found a cure for the stigma finally."
Shera looked down at the black stain on her hand and then back up at the man she has promised to spend her life with. She is hesitantly hopeful at his words.
"Its real, Shera. I saw it work on Cloud and the kids." He paused before adding. "Its from Aeris."
Aeris. She remembers the flower girl, remembers wishing that she could have gotten to know her better before Sephiroth killed her. "Okay."
"You'll be feeling better in no time," Cid promised.
She reached up and placed her hands on his cheeks. "I feel better already, just knowing you're home." She pulled his face down to hers and kissed him firmly on the lips.

She smiled at him. "You're welcome. Thanks for walking me home."
They stood outside the door, lost for words in the akwardness of the moment. Finally, she spoke.
"So...you want to do this again sometime? Maybe without our partners?"
This time it was his turn to smile at her. "It would be nice to get away from Reno and Tseng for a while."
"Great. So, how about next Tuesday?"
"That would be wonderful."
"Fantastic." She stood up on tiptoe and kissed him on the cheek. "I'll see you at work tomorrow."
Rude simply stared at her in shock as Elena unlocked her door and stepped inside her apartment.

She did - eventually. Barret's line-of-sight swam like a retarded fish in the very whiskey he was drinking. "Yer so pretty, dammit."
Tifa couldn't help but blush - still, after all this time, even a compliment from a friend too drunk to tell her face from her - "Barret," she said sternly ( ... )

Guess I've gotta do one for you now as well. Hrm. This will take some thinking.

Luckily, it was a problem he was well equipped to fix.
...Or, at least, he'd thought so.
He frowned at the bottle of whiskey. It didn't really seem like something Shera would like; the only women he'd ever seen drink it were Elena, who drank like a man, and Yuffie, who drank anything she could get her hands on, including once the Highwind's antifreeze. Shera wasn't a hardass like Elena, and she certainly wasn't desperate (and underage) like Yuffie was.
No, whiskey wouldn't work. Not unless he could find something to mix it with. A quick perusal of the fridge and cupboards presented him with orange juice (maybe), milk (ew), leftover stew (right out), tea, tea, and tea.
Well, he'd drink whiskey and tea. But there was no way in hell he was gonna give that shit to Shera. Desperate, Cid headed out to the ( ... )
