Tifa/Barret (this isn't even FAIR) first_seventhe February 12 2008, 21:20:03 UTC
Barret had been staring at the grain in the wall the last time she'd come over here with whiskey, Tifa realized. Concerned, she set the glass down in front of him and hurried to deliver drinks to her few remaining customers. Once they were satistied, she slid into the booth across from Barret, hoping to catch his eye.

She did - eventually. Barret's line-of-sight swam like a retarded fish in the very whiskey he was drinking. "Yer so pretty, dammit."

Tifa couldn't help but blush - still, after all this time, even a compliment from a friend too drunk to tell her face from her - "Barret," she said sternly.

"S'ry," he said, not sounding sorry at all.

"Why don't I get you some water." It was more of a stern command than an offer, but Barret simply blinked at her.

"Y're so damn pretty, Tif," and he reached across the table with one gigantic drunken paw to grab her wrist. "C'mere 'n let me-"

He leaned forward, and with her heart pounding, Tifa - very slowly, very cautiously - did the same.

Barret fell forward suddenly and face-planted into the table, his lips meeting the wood with a very solid thud.

"Why don't I get you some water," Tifa repeated at the back of his head, vaguely unsure whether to be insulted or amused.

And I am more than paid back for the numerous references to Irvine in his birthday suit. Wonderful. You managed to keep them both in character even when Barret was faceplanting into a table. That's quality.

Guess I've gotta do one for you now as well. Hrm. This will take some thinking.
