Part 1 The day after the festival, both Junsu and Changmin were still in somewhat shock. Junsu would not get up at all to attend to anything or anyone, so Changmin was left with the car to go do the grocery shopping for the oncoming weekend and pick up whatever clothes from the cleaners. The fear was still nipping at him though. Any snap of a twig or bark from a dog sent Changmin into a shivering frenzy, and it both frightened him and pissed him off. He felt like slapping himself for being so touchy and afraid. In the end, he couldn’t help it.
When he returned home late afternoon, his fears for Junsu’s well-being grew larger. The moment he walked through the threshold, Junsu clung to Changmin’s body, holding, punching, pinching, scratching, and even biting the closest limb. Changmin realized it was his friend releasing the stress and fear which the redhead had locked up in himself all day. The youngest felt guilt strike him-guilt for taking Junsu into the forest last night. Changmin wanted to rewind time and play it all over again.
Yet somehow, he wanted time to continue.
And of course, it did.
He suddenly wanted to know more, and being the stubborn person that he was, he would find out all that there was to know, someway and somehow.
Changmin cared for Junsu the rest of the evening, and held the redhead in his arms until he fell into a dreamless slumber.

Junsu seemed much better the next morning. Changmin was cautious around him though, and tried to not say anything which might send him off into a fearful frenzy.
“Are you going to work today, hyung?” Changmin asked as they ate their breakfast in the kitchen. The youngest was shoving eggs and bacon into his mouth every second.
Junsu grimaced when Changmin swallowed an egg whole and downed it with a glass of orange juice. Nonetheless, he answered, “Yes Min, I have work. Why would I not go?”
At that, Changmin hesitated. Junsu realized why his friend would react in such a way, and fought down the fear which wanted to plague his mind-fear of large beasts, white teeth, and ungodly howls. Controlling his emotions, he gave Changmin the best smile he could muster and said, “I’ll be fine. Don’t worry about me, okay?”
“I can’t help it…”
Junsu continued to smile softly. “I know Minnie, and I thank you for your concern. This whole fear thing will pass eventually. I’ll get over it.”
“I’ll be here for you.”
Junsu reached across the small table and ruffled the dark brown hair. “I know you will.”
Changmin’s goofy smile smothered more of Junsu’s fears and the redhead felt relieved. Changmin was the greatest friend he would ever have and he cherished him like a brother. Since the moment they met in that orphanage all those years ago, Junsu would never see Changmin in a different way other than his closest sibling, the one who he could confide anything in and trust wholeheartedly.
He really was blessed. The bonus was that Changmin was a genius and could solve any problem and say interesting things. Junsu had his own label for genius though: nerd. He’s teased Changmin about that since they were kids.
Changmin had his own label for a clumsy person like Junsu too: dolphin and/or duck-butt. He was a guy who squeals like a dolphin and has too big of an ass for his legs to hold up by themselves!
As Junsu recalled past memories of jokes and young laughter, Changmin swallowed his last egg and engulfed his last piece of bacon before bringing his dish to the sink and rinsing it off. He turned around to stare at Junsu oddly, and he asked, “What are you daydreaming about hyung? Showers or computers?”
“Oh, don’t get me started on that Min,” Junsu warned as he came out of his revere. “You know I’d win.”
Changmin huffed as he began to wash his plate. “Says Mr. Duck-Butt…”
Junsu threw his piece of toast at his friend, laughing in delight when it smacked against Changmin’s forehead. Dolphin laughter echoed throughout the entire kitchen and two smiles lit both of their faces.

Both of them worked at a record store called K-Records. They were hired there at the beginning of summer and used their earned money to rent the apartment they were currently living in. The car was a cheap hunk of metal which they got fairly cheap. They were still low in cash since paying for the run-down vehicle, but they weren’t worried.
What Junsu was worried about most was Changmin’s sudden keen interest in folklore and myths. Ever since that night in the Old Forest, the youngest had stayed after school to read in the library, then bring whatever weird books back to the house to read and take notes on. Even now, as they worked the counter at the record store, Changmin had a book in hand and reading glasses resting on the edge of his nose.
When they got to go on their break, Junsu asked what Changmin was reading. His answer shocked the redhead.
“Medieval folklore, but more-so werewolves and shape shifters.”
Junsu gaped at the youngest. “Why are you studying that? …Are you high?”
Changmin glared at Junsu. “The hell hyung?!”
“I have to ask! This is too random!”
“I would never use drugs Kim Junsu, so don’t ever suspect it!”
“Okay, okay! I promise I won’t. Just tell me why.”
Changmin’s glare was so scary Junsu wanted to run behind a shelf and hide. He didn’t of course, and the youngest began his explanation. “Ever since are night encounter in the woods-” He eyed Junsu warily, but his friend appeared unharmed by the reminder. “I couldn’t stop my curiosity to find out more about that old place and the things that lived in the forest. I researched a lot in the library, and I found out that East Gate is actually built over the land where it was said that a huge bloody battle took place.”
“A battle?” Junsu repeated as he tried to suck in this information.
Changmin nodded, eager to continue. “It is actually called a myth battle since none of this was ever proven, but what makes it a myth battle is the two species that fought in it.” The youngest paused for a dramatic affect. Junsu appeared unamused, so he finished. “It was a battle between vampires and werewolves.”
The redhead stared at Changmin ridiculously.
“Are you serious Changmin? Vampires and werewolves?”
“Yes, why would I make this up?”
“To entertain yourself and make up fantasy stories.”
“You have very little faith in me hyung, I’m disappointed.”
“Yeah well, this crap is definitely a good reason as to why I do.”
Now Changmin stared at him with a ridiculous expression.
Junsu sighed. “Okay, that was harsh. I apologize.”
“Forgiven.”
Junsu just nodded, and Changmin continued with another shocking statement.
“I think what attacked us in the forest were not dogs, bears, or overly-grown cats…but actual werewolves.”
Junsu placed both his hands on his hips and somewhat glared at Changmin, but the youngest wouldn’t let the redhead interrupt, so he spoke again. “I know it sounds WAY out there, but I am really leaning towards that conclusion hyung. East Gate is said to be built over a battlefield of rivals, death, and blood. Vampires despise werewolves as do werewolves despise vampires. These creatures could possibly still exist today.”
“Changmin, you cannot possibly believe that werewolves attacked us.”
“Then what do you think attacked us?” Changmin asked with an accusing glare.
Junsu shrugged and answered lamely, “A wild animal?”
“They weren’t animals hyung. Did you see how big they were?”
Recalling the large forms and deadly teeth, Junsu shivered. “Yes,” he murmured.
“Those were too big to be a dog and too lean to be a bear. Real wolves do not live in this area, nor do lions, tigers, or any mountain cat.”
“Changmin, there has to be another explanation…”
“There isn’t hyung.”
“Vampires and werewolves do not exist.”
“No one has ever proven that fact.”
“You are really over-doing it this time.”
Surprisingly, Changmin smirked. “You just don’t want to be proven wrong.”
“I know I’m right.”
“I am going to prove that you are not.”
With that smirk still in place, Changmin turned and headed back to the front counter. Junsu sighed and ran his hand through his red-dyed hair.
His friend was seriously losing it. That night in the Old Forest has put a huge dent in his nerdy mind.
When Junsu also returned to the front counter, he discovered that he had some returned cds which needed to be checked in and sorted back onto the shelves. So, that what was Junsu tended too. Changmin was working the cash register, book in hand once again. Junsu sighed and shook his head in disbelief.
The front doors chimed loudly, signaling a new customer. Of course, the workers had to greet them.
“Hello, welcome K-Records…”
Apparently, Changmin was still focused on something other than that damn book.
“Can I hel…”
After the long pause, Junsu glanced up from the cd he was holding to find that Changmin’s eyes were locked with that of the customer’s. When Junsu shifted his gaze to said-customer, only two words popped into his mind.
Fucking beautiful.
There was simply no other way to describe the…person standing there in front of the counter where Changmin stood frozen. The book had already dropped to the ground, forgotten-hopefully forever-and lost to the eyes. Junsu’s friend seemed to be in some sort of shock as he continued to stare at the customer with wide, baffled eyes. Junsu could not disagree. He too was gaping at the person adorned with pale skin emitting a heavenly yet cursed glow, finely curved features all throughout his body, especially his face, and dark, deep, enchanting eyes which could capture even the most faithful man’s heart to grip, twist, and use for his own. Junsu shivered subconsciously. This image was just too much.
Changmin really liked to stare at that black, mesmerizing hair. The dark strands fitted like long feathers to a bird and curved outward like the wings of an angel against his pale neck. Changmin was seriously in a state of shock. It wouldn’t surprise him if he suddenly slipped into a coma.
Then the second customer stepped up from behind the beautiful first customer, and once again Junsu could not stop gawking. This second man was tall, built, firm, strong, muscular, toned, fitted, and everything that made up the word handsome or even more. He was stunning. That tanned skin looked almost auburn in Junsu’s eyes. The redhead couldn’t imagine what his friend was thinking right now. Both of them were being assaulted by the beauty of these two beings within the store.
No one said a word, even the other customers couldn’t help but gawk.
“Are you okay?”
Changmin felt his kneecaps melt and head grow dizzy. That beautiful angel’s voice was like velvet. He did not speak, but purred every syllable. If Changmin could choose any moment to die, right now would be the perfect moment.
Slowly, eyes still locked onto those dark ones, limbs trembling and voice cracking, Changmin began to somewhat speak.
“I…” he began, “I-I’m…uh…er…I’m f-f-ine…just a bit…uh…” Those dark eyes were melting him alive! “C-could you excuse me for one moment?” And he tore himself away from the beauty’s figure and bolted for the back door.
Junsu wondered if Changmin remembered how to breathe. Then, the redhead realized that the two customers were still left unattended too, and so, gathering his courage, Junsu got his feet and walked up to the handsome man. “S-sorry about him, h-he has uh…stomach problems.”
The angel’s melodic laughter filled Junsu’s ears and it was hard for the redhead to stay standing. “That’s quite alright, we apologize for startling him.”
Junsu somewhat smiled. “Do you need help finding anything?”
“Yes actually,” said the angel. “Yunho here wanted a particular old record. He can’t seem to find it in any of the local stores. This is the last one in town, so of course we had to visit.”
Junsu bowed appreciatively and asked, “What is the soundtrack title?”
The one called Yunho answered, his voice low, smooth and clear. His tone was absolute perfection. Junsu quickly scrambled behind the counter and searched up the title in the computer.
“We have the soundtrack, but you have to order it first.”
The angel’s smile could seriously blind thirty people at once. “That’s great!” he exclaimed as he latched his arm onto Yunho’s. “Do you want to order it Yunnie?”
Yunho seemed to cringe at the nickname, but did not protest. Junsu had to admit it was cute. The handsome man before him agreed to pre-order the soundtrack and after signing a few papers and paying a small fee, he was all set.
“It should be here within two weeks, so please come visit us again,” Junsu explained politely.
“Of course,” said the angel. “Thank you for your help.”
Junsu bowed slightly. “You’re welcome.”
“Oh, and please tell your friend we hope he feels better. Stomach aches aren’t fun at all!”
Junsu chuckled. “I will. Thank you very much!”
The angel continued to blind him with his smile as he wrapped his arm around Yunho’s and began to head towards the front door. “You’re welcome!” he called back. Yunho opened the door wide, bells ringing loudly above him, and followed the pale beauty outside and out of sight.
It was then that Junsu remembered how to breathe. After taking into three large gulps of air, he made his way back into the back room. Changmin was sitting on his rear end, back leaning against the wall and eyes still wide with shock as he stared off into nothingness. Junsu kneeled down beside him and touched his friend’s shoulder. “You okay, Minnie?” he asked softly.
It was awhile before Changmin responded. He slowly turned his eyes to look into Junsu’s.
“What just happened, Su?”
Junsu plopped himself beside his friend and shook his head.
“I have no idea…”
Changmin resumed his shocked starring. “I think…stories are real…”
“…stories?” asked Junsu, puzzled.
“Fairytales…” Changmin clarified softly, his voice a mere whisper. “I believe them now…”
Junsu listened to the third-or was it fourth?-shocking statement of the day. Changmin’s voice was as soft as a gentle breeze, but as serious as Yunho’s eyes were moments ago.
The silence stretched on until Changmin whispered, “I think you can fall in love at first sight.”
Junsu was once again gaping at his friend. “What?” he gasped. “Minnie, y-you mean to tell me…that…with him?!”
“No hyung,” mumbled the youngest. “With them.”
Junsu’s mouth fell wide open.
…This was the most craziest, fucked up dream of his entire life. He didn’t know what to think. He just stared at Changmin in such shock while mentally shouting at himself to wake up and see reality. There was no way this was happening! There was no way that Shim Changmin, stubborn nerd that he was, had instantly fallen for two insanely gorgeous, beautiful people that appeared so off limits in pained Junsu to know that Changmin and they could never be…or could they?
No way! Junsu’s mind was rebelling against him.
“And the worst part of it is,” Changmin continued, not stopping there and adding more suspense to his realization.
“The worst part…” he whispered, “Is that I don’t think I’ll have a happy ending.”
A sudden dread filled Junsu’s heart, and cold realization came into place. What Changmin admitted was true, and that truth is portrayed in the real versions of forever fairytales.
It was that in the end, no one had a happily ever after.
