Chapter 4

Nick tried to force his eyes open when a hand snaked around his waist and a warm
body presses against his body. He turned his head around and his eyes confirmed
what his memory had already told him. He sneaked off the bed, trying to think a
way to fix this.

Nick considered banging his head against the wall. Greg had helped with his mom
as a favor. And in return Nick took advantage of him when he was drunk. There
was only one way this could end and it wasn’t pretty….

He collected his clothes, got dressed and sneaked out of Greg’s apartment. He got
into his car and drove to a nearby diner. After ordering coffee he turned off his cell
phone. Greg would be mad at him, but if there was any way to delay that confron-
tation, Nick would gladly take it. He leaned his elbows on the table, buried his face
in his hands and thought about last night.

Greg had been his friend. Had been. But he wouldn’t be anymore. One part of Nick’s
brain reminded him that he had been drunk too, and after the steamy dreams the
temptation was severe. He wanted Greg, but not like that. Not when Greg didn’t
know what he was doing. Greg had been more drunk than Nick. It was one thing to
do something stupid under the influence, but what would Greg think when he woke
up and realized what they had done….

-------------------------------------------

Greg arrived to Nick’s place right after ten. He marched in and parked himself on
the couch. He looked up like he was waiting for Nick to start the conversation.

“Are you gonna say something?”
“I don’t know what to say. Honestly, I don’t. I’m so sorry about last night. I knew
you were drunk, but I didn’t stop you. Believe me, I didn’t plan it. I never indented
to take advantage of your state like that.”

Greg looked at him with his mouth open. “What the hell are you talking about,
Stokes? If there’s something you should be sorry about, it’s this morning!”
“This morning?” Nick had no idea what Greg meant.

“Yes, this morning! You’re the last person I expected to do something like that.
I thought you were a caring, sexy cowboy, and you turn out to be a slutty mamas
boy with a dodgy accent!”

“Greg, would you listen? I left because I thought you’d be mad at me.”
“For what?”
“For what we did last night. It wasn’t part of our deal and…”
“Nick, I’ll say this as clearly as possible, so listen carefully. We were both drunk
last night, but it had nothing to do with what we did. I wasn’t the one laying on
my back with my legs in the air, that was you. I could have stopped it any time I
wanted to.”

“Really?”
“Really! And don’t look so relieved! I’m still mad at you for leaving.”
“I can understand that. But if I had known that you…. you know… wanted it, I
wouldn’t have done that.”
“Okay, but I still expect you to make it up to me.”
“How?”

Greg got up from the couch, grabbed Nick by his shoulders and pushed him
against the nearest wall.

“First we’ll get you naked, and then I’ll see what I can come up with.”

-------------------------------------------

After her third attempt Jillian gave up calling Nick`s cell phone. She pulled
out her note book and selected the number.

“Hello?”
“Greg?”
“Oh, Mrs. Stokes. What can I do for you?”
“I was trying to reach Nicholas, but his phone is off. Do you know where he is?”
“Yeah, he’s here.”

“Well, can you pass the phone to him?”
“He can’t talk, he’s kinda tied up right now… But I can take a message.”

“It wasn’t anything important. I just wanted to know about that nature trip to the
mountains he talked about. Are we still leaving at three?”

Greg was quiet for a minute. “I think we’ll have to reschedule that. Nicky’s gonna
have some troubles sitting down for some time. I think two hours in a car, driving
on bumpy roads would be too much for him.”
