“They know.” Natalia growled and eyed the people walking past. “They all know.”
“What?” Calleigh lifted her eyes from the result print she had been reading.
“They all know.”
“Know what?”
“That Eric dumped me so he could bend over for his male co-worker.”
“If you don’t want people to talk, you really should keep your voice down.”
“What does it matter now? Have you seen the looks they all give me? I know what they’re thinking.”
Calleigh sighed and gave up reading her print. “Fine. What are they thinking?”
“They think “What the hell did she do in bed to make that slut puppy turn gay” and then they laugh at me.”
“I think Ryan had something to do with it too.”
“So you do think I’m that bad in bed?”
“Nobody’s thinking that. Could you just get back to work?”
“I can’t concentrate. They both have the day off. I keep thinking what they are doing right now, and it’s not pretty.”
“Can’t you think dirty after work?”
------------------------------------------
“Good day. Or is it morning for you?” Alexx greeted when he marched into Ryan’s apartment. “You look like you just got out of bed.”
“Well… I wasn’t expecting company.” Ryan wrapped his bathrobe tightly around himself. “You want coffee? I was just going to make some.”
“Sure, and can you tell Eric to come here too? I want to talk to both of you.”
“Did you say something?” Eric walked out of the bedroom, absentmindedly rubbing his belly. He spotted Alexx and leaped back into the bedroom.
“Boy, you got nothing I haven’t seen before.” She commented. “But I’ve never seen bite marks like that before.”
“Coffee.” Ryan guided her to the kitchen.
“By the way, I take that back. I’ve seen marks like that but they were bigger.”
“Bigger?” Ryan tinkered with the coffeemaker.
“It was a victim of a shark attack. I don’t think I need to ask what you’ve done with your day off.”
“How did you know Eric was here?”
“Both of you had a day off.” She shrugged. “It was just a question of whose place are you at. I called his land line and he didn’t answer.”
“Sounds simple. So…. you know.”
“Baby, I’ve known about it for a long time.”
“Long time?”
“Well, two weeks. That’s how long it has lasted. I’m right, aren’t I?”
“Yeah, but I have no idea how you knew that.”
“Everyone was talking about that little scene Eric put up in some bar, when I saw you two at work the next day, you weren’t fighting.”
“So?”
“You weren’t fighting. That’s so weird that it has to mean something. And then I saw those sappy looks.”
“I haven’t given anyone any sappy looks.”
“I meant Eric.”
“What did I do now?” Eric asked as he walked in.
“Nothing, honey. And why did you put your pants on? I told you, I’ve seen it all before.”
“You have?” Ryan asked suspiciously.
“In general, not his stuff.”
------------------------------------------
“What are you doing?” Calleigh asked. When she had gone to the locker room she hadn’t expected to see Natalia. To be more precise, she hadn’t expected to see Natalia with scissors, cutting men’s trousers to little pieces.
“I got these from home when I went to get fresh clothes in the morning.” She answered with a bright smile. “Eric left them to my place when she was still the same loose minded, slutty gigolo who went after every woman under sixty. Eric BW.”
“BW?”
“Before Wolfe.”
“And why are you cutting his pants?”
“This is anger management therapy. I was going to give them back to him, but I think they serve a bigger purpose this way. You wanna try?”
“No thanks.”
“This is really effective. I did the same thing in college when I had a bad break-up. I was going through my youthful follies phase, everything was about symbolism.”
“What are you going to do with those pieces?”
“I’ll mail them to him in registered post, what do you think? I’ll dump them to a grill, paste them with gasoline and burn them.”
------------------------------------------
“One more thing, honey.” Alexx started as soon as Eric had excused himself to go to the bathroom. “I’ll give you the same advice I gave to my old college roommate when she got married.”
“I’m listening.”
“Eric’s serious about this, I don’t doubt that. But his type can’t control themselves sometimes. You better keep an eye on him.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean that he means well, but he needs someone to discipline him sometimes. And if you need to, I can come over to spank him.”
Ryan couldn’t keep the grin off his face. “Don’t worry, I can do that myself.”
“Do what?” Eric asked and walked back to the kitchen.
“None of your business, baby. I have to go now, I need to run some errands.” She paused to eye Eric. “Are you okay?”
“Sure, why?”
“You’re walking funny…..”
“Yeah, I had a little….. sport injury.”
