They are not lonely.
They are the loneliest people in the world.
I must say, those two were my favorite lines. ♥ It's just such a jarring contrast. It's as though--they're not "lonely," because there are other people who do not fit in, like them, but they are also lonely, because the people who do not fit in don't fit in differently from the others. (I hope that made sense.) And then you repeated it near the end! Their heaven, hell, and limbo all in one, because they are not lonely, and they are the loneliest people in the world.--and made me squee. :)
They are the world's orphans, war's orphans, still grotesque children playing with toys. Shunning society, desperate for its acknowledgment - for without acknowledgment as masterful criminals, they are merely freaks. War has made them. They must make war. Art. I like Diedara explaining how war revealed to him what real art is and Sasori's thoughts on why he regards the "flash" as art.
The flash that took your parents. The flash that you've been trying your whole life to duplicate, and capture, because you were obsessed, and everything you do, you do hoping that someone, anyone, will give you attention. Recognition.
Interesting. OMG I read something with DD! *mems this as well*
Much Love,

This was before he made himself.
I love the opening lines for this fic. I couldn't say why exactly, but they guaranteed my instant engagement in the fic, and are so very fitting for Sasori's character. (And in the literal sense, too. :P) I also liked the part after his parents are killed and while he's attempting to construct his puppets, he loses himself. The aftermath of that scene, where he decides that whatever that was, he will not feel it again was particularly powerful.
Frenzied artist he might be, but he sticks hard to his decisions and lives unerringly by his own personal authority; because that is control, and that is power, and that is all he's going to be able to create, in that mental space he's landed in. He can remake himself as he sees fit.
They do not come together because they care about Akatsuki's goals. They do not meet because they are interested in their leader's plans. None of them care. None are fooled into thinking the others do ( ... )
