UP and why the Colhoun women won't see it again.

Yesterday, Bree, Howard, Harry and I took Bree out to dinner and a movie to celebrate her most excellent report card. We went to see UP. UP is a beautifully animated, well voiced, imaginative movie that I never want to see again. It is a very good movie with way too many triggers for the Colhoun women. Bree said it was harsh, Howard described part ( Read more... )

I've heard enough about it to decide that I'm not going. No way.

However I saw The Dark Knight two weeks ago. I got to the end and the scene with Harvey Dent and the child.....and lost my mind. Total PTSD. However, I was in a room full of my husband's coworkers, many who didn't know about Zach. I had to wait for the movie to finish so I could run to the bathroom, lock myself in, and sob into the running sink for probably 20 minutes.

The worst part is that my husband had already seen the movie when it came out in the theaters, saw that scene and thought "Steph can not see this movie!".....and then forgot about it. ARGHHH!

Nod. I think the trailer was so misleading. It seems to be such a bright and happy story and it's really not.

Ugh, what an awful experience for you. I'm sorry.

As if freezing baby penguins weren't bad enough :( Yeah- it's a sad, brilliantly told story, but they really did misrepresent it in the ads.

I don't get it completely because our PTSDs are different but I get the triggers, oh yes I do.

Yes, that helped. I'm still wishing there could have been a bit more truth in advertising. The trailer doesn't give a hint of how deep and serious the movie really is.

I couldn't agree more. Much too difficult of a movie to be targeted for children. It was very hard for me.

Yes. I think little kids will miss the hard stuff and just laugh at the talking dog but older kids will have a hard time.
