This is an odd benefit of living in the Bay Area. Since we never know when The Big One is going to hit, there can't be any panicked shopping like you're obviously dealing with tonight.

Of course, gridlore and I don't have a 72hr kit in the house right now, so we're screwed. :-P

Just came across another post similar to mine from a person on my LJ who is now living in Texas. Country wide hysteria is not necessary. We were calmer during 9/11, if I recall correctly, so this is just nonsense.

As far as I'm concerned, the only people around here who are justified in freaking out are the new UNC students who are new to this country. Between the eartquake and the hurricane alarmists, some of these kids are really freaked out. Welcome to your first week of college, kids!
