I saw your beach post. We are far more inland than that. I'm expecting trees to come down like in the tornado earlier this year. We had no power for a couple of days but we managed. Luckily my mom is no longer on insulin(which needs refrigeration) so I don't need to worry about her not being able to take her medication.
It is ridiculous - and we are way inland. I went to pick up a RX yesterday and there was NO WATER left in the store at all. Or batteries. Or bread. Because really - you won't be able to get out of your house for three weeks.
That said, my mom grew up in Rockaway and always told the story about when she was a kid and the bay meat the ocean in front of her house....but then again, low lying area people do need to take some sensible precautions (but that doesn't mean they should PANIC and be rude).
I do worry about trees down and power loss (but that's partly because I don't want to loss the AC and there's a new Doctor Who tonight and I don't want to miss it....)
