Belated bead show reviews

Both shows were a bit of a disappointment this time around. The Whole Bead show has been steadily declining and this year was no exception. Too many vendors with cheap beads and much fewer vendors with good quality. Even fewer lampwork artisans than the year before so everything was basically cheaply made, massed produced crap. If you want some acorns I have a whole boatload. They're not glass - but they are very natural looking!:P

I have a friend in Tucson who said their bead shows are the same -- a lot of vendors have stopped coming (it's so expensive to travel, pay for the booth and hotel, etc. that they don't make money) and those who still do frequently sell lesser pieces than they usually do.

Yes, my favorite lampwork artist said a few years back that the trip to New York with his "horse and pony show" just wasn't worth it.
