Alcohol again. Well, Hermione was absolutely certain that she wouldn't let herself go overboard this time. The last time she had champagne, she started going into a history of French thieves and went home to bed a man.

Not this time, Hermione, she said to herself as she grabbed a curious-looking cocktail and stood with an arm across her stomach.

She was wearing a pale yellow dress that coincidentally went very well with the wedding decorations, as well as the jewelry Harry had gotten her.

Lavender was surprised at herself. Not only had she found a new job, but she had been invited to someone's wedding. The wedding itself had been wonderful and Lavender was grateful that her former professor and her current employer had invited her.

Deciding that a celebratory drink was in order, Lavender approached the bar at the end of the room and ordered herself a glass of champagne. She was taking her first sip when she noticed Hermione not too far away. Should she say something? Sighing heavily with nerves, Lavender decided she should break the ice, so to speak.

"Hello, Hermione," she said. Then, deciding that a compliment is always in order in awkward situations, Lavender continued, "That's a beautiful necklace."

Harry had been caught speaking to other people around, speaking about what a lovely wedding it was, how beautiful the bride was, etc. Things that were completely uninteresting to a young man, however Harry was rather good at feigning interest. When he finally broke away, he spotted Hermione at the bar with Lavender, of all people. Best to steer clear of that, particularly if Hermione and Lavender happened to be discussing Ron. He sighed and wandered near the bar, tugging at his tie just a bit. He really hated ties.

Hannah returned from the rest room noting that Dean had wandered off somewhere. Scanning the room, she noted him over by the bar and couldn't help but send up a quick prayer that Ron be nowhere near by seeing as Ron, Dean, and cocktails hadn't been a good mix last time.

She didn't have time to wonder long as the food appeared before her. Looking down at the plate before her, Hannah smiled at the roast beef and potatoes, the asparagus she could have done without, but the salad and roll would complete the meal just fine.

Waiting for Dean to return she wondered what drink he would bring her.

Dean thought the evening was going well- the wedding had been nice, and he'd thought it was very kind of Professor Sinistra and Caleb to invite them, even though he'd only run into Caleb once or twice at the pub.

Still, a wedding was a nice way to spend an evening- especially since Dean was still trying to atone for his behavior the last time he and Hannah had gone to a formal event. With that in mind, Dean was doing his level best to be a gentleman, and that included getting his girlfriend a drink.

Heading back to the table, Dean had a cosmopolitan in one hand for Hannah, and a beer for himself in the other.

"Hope this is alright," Dean said, handing Hannah her drink. "The bartender recommended it."

Hannah reached up and took the drink Dean offered her. "Looks like a fine match for this wonderful meal." She smiled glad to know that he'd been able to make a successful trip out of retrieving drinks.

Taking a sip she wondered at the flavor for a moment before placing the vodka. "I've never had one of these before, what is it?" She didn't typically drink, but when she did, she enjoyed a crisp dry vodka mixed with any variety of juices.

Everything had been going wonderfully so far- it seemed like all the guests were having a good time, and Stella was fairly sure she'd at least said hello to everyone.

However, there were parts of the evening when the only person she wanted to see was Caleb, and this was one of those times. They had danced a bit when Caleb had proposed, and Stella had been looking forward to their first dance as husband and wife. When the first strains of music started after dinner, Stella smiled, taking Caleb's hand.

"I know you're supposed to ask, but shall we?" Stella grinned, nodding towards the dance floor.

Caleb had enjoyed the evening, had managed to make polite conversation without making too big of an arse of himself, but really, he only had eyes for Stella. He'd never seen her glow the way she had been since the ceremony, and he was beginning to resent every time someone else needed his attention.

The suggestion to dance couldn't have come at a better time.

"I thought you'd never ask," Caleb grinned, pushing back from the table.

He led Stella out onto the empty dance floor, and as soon as she was in his arms, the rest of the room disappeared. "I love you, Mrs. Moore," he whispered against her ear as they began to sway to the music.

Caleb's words caused a delightful shiver to run through Stella, and she brushed a soft kiss against his cheek.

"And I love you, Mr. Moore," she murmured, a wide grin appearing on her face. Truly, she was happier tonight than she ever could have imagined being, and every moment just made it more real and wonderful.

"I'm so proud of you, love," she continued, her voice quiet and happy. "You've been wonderful." Stella knew it was hard for Caleb, sometimes, to get over his shyness, but she hadn't seen a trace of it tonight.
