There's all these cool nooks and crannies on the trails leading up to Gaea's Cliff. I very much enjoy how the paths don't seem to orient themselves the way the player expects and the final stretch doesn't have anything other than snow. It really lends to the sense of disorientation a blizzard might cause. Occasionally you find what looks like an abandoned campsite from a group of previous climbers. There's also this crazy ice lady who attacks you if you've touched the hot springs. Yes, neat place. I wish there was more to do here ( ... )

Gaea's Cliff - I'm doing those squats to the party from fainting because they're too stupid to buy warm clothes. Then I'm exploring those frankly utterly gorgeous caves - it's like being inside a gem-stone. Then, there's the first of the Sephiroth clones that pops up in this section and he ends up fighting the group. I always wondered why Sephiroth had them do that sort of thing. Is it to keep the group from getting suspicious if things were too easy? Or is that the clones are only partially under his control and that they're instinctively lashing out ( ... )

If they had the Highwind, why did they want to take the Tiny Bronco in the first place?

Rufus
How's the job?
What happened to the Airship?

Heidegger
The long range airship is still being prepared.
It should be ready in about three more days. Gya haa haa!

Comes up all the way back in Junon. Might have been that in Rocket Town Rufus considered it faster to take the Tiny Bronco for whatever purpose than radio Junon and (god forbid) wait for the crew to bring it over, so to hell with Cid's feelings and let's just take the plane.

Except then Cloud & Co. nab it, so he's forced to wait for the Highwind anyway. |D

My impression was that the clone had been heading to Reunion and got attacked. I thought that's why it gets knocked toward you and disappears and then the group spends a few seconds looking around for the dragon before the battle starts.

he awakening of WEAPONS - I don't really have much to say here except its a very neat scene. I would like to think that the skeleton of the way too big T-rex which Bone Village into is actually from an ancient WEAPON that was killed by something long before Shinra or JENOVA or maybe even the Ancients themselves ( ... )

Oh Tifa... Despite AC may make people think, in the original game I'd honestly believe the trait of self-blaming is more something to associate with Tifa opposed to Cloud.

That line for some reason just got me thinking about Cloud in AC, and him running away would make more sense when you look at it from what happened in the game. He wasn't being cowardly or trying to shirk his responsibilities, but was worried that he would end up hurting his family if he was around, and for good reason: after all, he had come close to killing Aeris himself twice. As we saw, he knew Sephiroth was getting into his head again, so he'd of course try to make sure that if that happened he wasn't anywhere near people to hurt.

On the other hand, the creators probably never intended it and just ended up with weak emoCloud. Oh, wells.

that's always been my head-canon for Cloud's retreat in AC. He beat the stuffing out of Aerith and almost killed her last the time he was hearing Sephiroth in his head and this time he's not only living with Tifa but two little, defenseless kids who trust him. After all, according to CoT, he stays with the family straight up until he contracts geostigma and even seems to be working on fitting in with everyone better. I think it fits with the whole 'being able to protect your family/take care of yourself' bit. Him pulling the 'I'm sick, time to leave' card doesn't fit with his 'I'm crazy - hey, stay with me and help me finish this quest' personality from the game at all.

Though - it IS SE. So it could have all just been for the emo.

I will (probably) have coherent thoughts later, but in the meanwhile I might as well answer the questions 1 and 2: I remember being absolutely devastated by the Cloud revelation when I first played the game, and this time wasn't much different ( ... )

love your comment, but above everything else, fuck, I LOVE YOUR ICON.

most of all because "deal with tons of crap" doesn't even begin to describe it.

I remember the first time I played the game my grief over Aeris was quickly replaced by anger, it went from 'noooo Aeris' to 'NOOOO MY RIBBON'. This was before I knew you could get multiple ribbons. Lesson learned ( ... )

You can steal her equipment when you're little Cloud, IIRC.

It's interesting that in the Ifalna videos Jenova or 'the crisis from the sky' is referred to as 'he'.
how does i check my own script over ????

It seems that Gast is the more overprotective parent compared to Ifalna. Had he lived he probably would have spoiled her rotten.
Oh God... Just thinking about them being a happy family... makes me want to cry.
