I realy enjoyed this I have always found the slave verse type fics interesting. I like how John is in character in a way. I geuss he acts just like any one who was brought up with slaves being the norm but is a decent person about it:)

Poor Rodney I really feel for him, looking forward to book 2, really is great stuff.

I wanted to have slavery as something that everyone lives with and doesn't really think about - until they are thrust into that world, as John was. I hope that Rodney's character hasn't been changed unrecogniseably, it's just hiding under the veneer of his present predicament! Thank you very much for reading and for leaving a comment.

Hi! I just read the entire story. I loved it! The way you made John totally unsure and Rodney so vulnerable. Wonderful! The only thing I truly missed was a scene where John got to lay into Carter for the original charges. Would have been awesome! Great story, I look forward to the next book.

Well, firstly, I´m impressed by your world-building with the different types of slaves, the slave-holding such an integral part of society, the moral objections of some people who nevertheless don´t do something because that´s just how it is etc. I also think that you portrayed your Rodney surprisingly well for such a difficult mindset (if that´s the right word... hope you know what I mean). And I´m curious about the Pegasus Galaxy - do they have slaves, too, and if not, how will they react? Teyla especially.
But I really don´t like your John. Apparently he never ever thought about slaves even though he was in the military for several years, and even when he is given a slave he only gradually starts to inform himself. He seems extremely careless to me, if well-meaning. He likes Rodney and doesn´t want to hurt him, but still orders him to have sex even though he should know that Rodney isn´t really in a position to make rational decisions. I hope he grows up a bit in Atlantis!
I look forward to the next part.

It's really something that John has never really thought about - other than vaguely wondering if it's right or wrong. He took Rodney because he thought Rodney needed saving, but now he doesn't really know what to do with him and Rodney has been trained to think of himself as pretty much nothing. As for Pegasus - wait and see!!

As I'm about to start posting a sequel that I promised 3 years ago, I can hardly cast stones at delays. :)

REally enjoyed this. I was struck by the custodial staff. It makes perfect sense in the world you've created and it adds that extra touch of reality and texture to your world.

It's funny that the Custodian Corps seems to bother some people! SLaves aren't just for sex... with care you can have some left over for toilet cleaning!
