“Alright, thur.” The Igor held up a sheet of paper. “What do you thee?”
Poly looked at the picture, and reddened to her ears.
“What do you think??” she gasped.
The Igor raised an eyebrow.
“I could probably hathard a gueth, Major. But thith ith thupothed to give me thome idea of your mental health.”
“My mental health is fine, thank you so very much, Ensign.”
Perhaps the ‘ensign’ had been a bit too defensive.
“I appologithe, thur. However, the general’th getting a bit worried about you.”
“Generals don’t worry about Majors. It’s in the rules.”
“Even tho.” He made a note. “We’re done, thur.”
“I should bloody well say we are.”
Polly fled the medical tent with as much dignity as she could manage.

“So…?” Mal pushed herself away from the tree she’d been lounging against. “How was your check-up?”
Polly blushed all over again, as they walked.
“Apparently,” she muttered, quietly, “the army thinks that showing girly pictures to people is an adequate assessment of their sanity.”
Mal blinked.
“Girly pictures?”
“Yes! What are they thinking??”
“These didn’t happen to be, er, black ink on white paper, did they?”
Polly stopped.
“Yeah, why?”
Mal smirked.
“They use those in the league. At first, all you see is blood spatter. They know you’re getting better when you start seeing anything else.”
“What?”
“The pictures aren’t of anything, Pol. You see what you want to see.”
“…Oh.”
Mal’s smile widened significantly.
“So… What was it that you wanted to see?”
