Turns out that the PhD in Paris was a bit of a false start - I finally managed to navigate their website, and established that they have a couple of presentation days where all the potential students compete for the funded places by presenting past research and their plans for how they would carry out the study. So I was a little taken aback to realize last night that my viva was one year and (now) 6 days ago. While this wasn't when I graduated, it was the end of my degree.
