That was beautifully intimate. So many lovely lines, but this one especially got to me "silence shattered, and joy surged"

Aww, thank you. I've read your writing--you're too kind!

I feel like Giles seals so much of his feelings, his losses behind a wall of silence, because he's surrounded by kids, really, in a land not of his own, away from family and friends. There needs to be an outlet, and moments where people just listen to him, even if his emotions have to be expressed indirectly, through music.

Thank you, Danna! I wanted to give Giles an emotional outlet, because he suffers through deeply personal losses on the show, too, and doesn't really have anyone to help him cope (the way that everyone wants to help Buffy). So I imagined him pouring out his heart to strangers through music.

Giles' emotional/artistic side is tragically underrepresented in terms of actual scenes. We know it's there... but so little about it...
