Fanon Element: The Orgasmic Vampire Bite (NC-17)

Jun 07, 2015 02:54

The orgasmic vampire bite so often found in Buffyverse fanfiction--if you don't know what I'm referring to, Buffy and Spike are only too happy (in the hands of certain writers) to, ahem, illustrate (in NC-17 fashion, should there be any doubt):

Buffy and Spike illustrate the orgasmic vampire bite... )

I think most of the orgasmic vampire stuff comes from Graduation Day (Part I???) when Angel bites Buffy - it's shot in a way that basically says Buffy orgasms when he bites her, but then she also ends up in hospital, so it doesn't come across as a particularly ringing endorsement ( ... )

I'd completely blocked that out, as it very nearly kills Buffy (probably not something anyone without a death wish wants done on a regular basis). Ugh, corrected.

It's such a martyr scene. But then again, orgasmic ecstasies are nothing new to Catholic martyrs. (The Ecstasy of Saint Teresa comes to mind.)

I also think there's a certain element of that in the scenes of Riley in that abandoned house being fed on by Sandy (?), especially in the way he kept going back and back - even after having sex with Buffy.

OK, "Graduation Day, Part 2" offers definitely evidence (corrected), and the bite houses offer corroboration.

Isn't it weird, that in a show that demonizes vampires, that their bite could have this attractive effect on humans?

Unfortunately, orgasmic vampire bite is very strongly reaffirmed in canon, as quinara already mentioned.
This bangel scene in Graduation Day pt.2 leaves no room for speculation.
(This scene also squicks me on so many levels, but that's not the point - it's considered to be one of the hottest BtVS scenes, and Buffy is undoubtedly having an orgasm.)
Though I agree with you - on the logical level vampire slayer getting kicks out of vampire bite makes little sense and is extremely dangerous kink (both for her and her partner). But kinks rarely make any logical sense...

Corrected. I'd apparently completely blocked out the scene from "Graduation Day, Part 2", as it very nearly kills Buffy (probably not something anyone without a death wish wants done on a regular basis). All I remembered was the "almost kill" part. :)

As above, but also William and Liam show something very like this when they are being turned, though William then spoils it all for himself by going "Ow" a lot. (Bless!)

Well, I stand corrected. I'd apparently completely blocked out the scene from "Graduation Day, Part 2". All I remembered was the fact that Angel almost kills Buffy. Not exactly something you want out of sex, unless you happen to also harbor a secret death wish.

I thought about the turning of William and Liam, and...well, I thought a dying bite would be a different deal entirely, if one were to embrace death and the subsequent rebirth?

In addition to the Graduation Day thing, there are scenes of Angel biting Darla and Darla apparently enjoying it, and even William's reaction to Drusilla biting him isn't so much unendurable agony as surprise. If you take the comics as canon, in S10 Spike mentions that vampires can make a bite feel good if they want to. No mention of coagulant spit, though, and frankly, that part makes zero sense, as vampires normally don't give a crap if their Happy Meal bleeds out, and the vast majority of the happy biting we see is between vampires, where bleeding out isn't an issue ( ... )

Right, biting and blood drinking is natural for vampires, so bitey sex could be used to show absolute trust between the partners when it's written to be this amazing, rewarding experience (unless the vampire turns out to be too inexperienced to be in control, like the Vamp!Willow and Tara example). I think it'd require the overcoming of an extra mental barrier for a Slayer, though, which makes it particularly interesting (or particularly kinky ( ... )

I think it'd require the overcoming of an extra mental barrier for a Slayer, though, which makes it particularly interesting (or particularly kinky).Honestly, I think most people (unless they were Xtreem Sensation Junkies to begin with) would have pretty significant barriers to overcome -- I mean, Buffyverse vampires don't just have cute little Dracula fangs, after all! But yeah, that's one reason I didn't go there until I'd written the two of them as being in a relationship for several years. It's not something I think would go over well on the second date. :D If Spike wants Slayer blood, he can just go down on her during her period (talk about kinks not everyone's into ( ... )

Ah yes. I've seen that done a couple of times in fanfic (I'm sure there's more I haven't read). Both stories were incredibly hot. :) Which reminds me of an article I read (in the NYTimes, maybe?) of RL men into oral on menstruating women. One of the men expressed enormous relief at finding out that there were other people into the same kink, that he wasn't alone. I've encountered that same sentiment enough times to come to the conclusion that no matter what you're into, there are other people into the same thing too. We're at once different and so similar it's kind of scary (but reaffirming too).

Back to Buffy. If we're supposed to learn from the show that even souled vampires destroy what they love, the message is lost in later seasons. Why write this huge redemption arc for Spike if that's the ultimate lesson?
