Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes

Is anyone excited about Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes? Saw the trailer, action packed, funny and very slashy. Here is what Watson said to Holmes:

When do I complain about you practicing the violin at 3 in the morning. Or your mess? Or your general lack of hygiene, or the fact that you steal my clothes?

So, looks like they're housemates.

But someone is ( Read more... )

I think it will do well. The trailers have been very good. Just ignore Medved. He's so conservative that he doesn't like anything controversial.

I'm personally very excited for this film! :D I don't know what that man is talking about really. Sherlock and Watson are not being written as gay in this movie (from what I know?). Just two men who are very comfortable each other, I would think. Then again, if this man is as conservative as he seems, two men being close to each other means gay for him. Such narrow minded opinions. *shakes head*

Yes, I also think in the movie Holmes and Watson will just have a close bond, and they share a house, not necessarily gay. But on the other hand, Ritchie might plan to cash in from the homoerotic undertones on purpose.

Well, I don't mind if he cashes in, really. I do think he's catering to fandom here, maybe, I don't know. At least a part of it, or what will be a part of it if the movie hits.

I wish more directors could be like that.

I've read the article on JustJared this morning (HERE), I just can't understand why people should be complaining about a possible homosexual relationship in the movie, or, a strong male friendship.. cos that's what I think they've were meant to film.
As Capps said about A/M: "at the end of the day, these are two men who are in an incredibly intense friendship so of course there is a certain amount of love there"

I am not sure about Capps. I'll make my judgement until I saw all the episode of S2. The fact they keep mentioning Arthur / Gwen every chance they have bugs me.

I liked the trailer a lot but I think it's not the image I had of Sherlock.
I always thought that he was more of a brains man than a phisical one. Like he was witty and clever, which made tough guys angry and powerless.
Also I thought that Watson just put up with everything Sherlock did without saying a word.
I've only read modified versions of the books when I was little, so I can't be sure that my image is the right one.

But I am still excited about the movie.

P.S.: I'm reading the quote again: one thing is seeing two guys making out and another very different is two guys insinuating or being a bit "flirty" (if I may use that word) with eachother.
For example, I enjoy the slashyness (and I really don't like slash) in Merlin. It's done beautifully and it's not grotesque.

Well, it's just like BBC's Merlin. If they do it well, I'll accept the new image of Holmes.
