Summer Reading Program!

My Sixteenth Review

The Stolen Child by Donohue, Keith
New York : Nan A. Talese, c2006.
ISBN: 0385516169
Description: 319 p. ; 25 cm

A completely amazing story. I don't think I've enjoyed a book this much in a long time! This book tells the story of Henry Day, who is stolen by changelings at age seven and replaced by an impostor, who himself was kidnapped by changelings a hundred years before. We see the parallel stories of the boy who was taken and the boy who replaced him. I was concerned that I would be disappointed in the ending, as I am often am, but I'm happy to say that did not happen. The author does a great job of tying up all the loose ends in a believable way, I was pleased.

This was such a touching story, I laughed, and even shed a few tears. It was complex, yet I was never bored. I'm not sure how I would classify it, perhaps in fantasy or some kind of mild supernatural category. A label isn't that important, after all, just enjoy the ride, and I'm sure you will.
