Girls Out Late by Jacqueline Wilson

ISBN: 0385729766 (trade) 0385900422 (glb)
Description: 213 p. ; 18 cm.
This is the third book in the Girls Quartet, which is comprised of:
Girls in Love
Girls Under Pressure
Girls Out Late
Girls In Tears
Since I read the first two before June 1st, I can't count them for this, but I'll talk about them a little as I need to for this review. These books are about thirteen year old Ellie, who lives with her little brother, Eggs, her father, and Anna, her step mom. Ellie's two best friends, Magda, the blond glamour girl, and Nadine, the tall skinny goth chic with great hair, also play a part in the stories. The first book dealt with the girls looking for love, the second with Ellie's weight struggles. This book is about Ellie breaking curfew to be with a boy she just met, and having to face the consequences.
I really like Ellie, she's human and you can relate to her. I love that she's not perfect, and that she's great at art. She's got her head in the clouds, but heck, what 13-year-old doesn't? It took me a while when I started the series to realize it was set in England. And that just made it more interesting for me, as I'm a bit of an Anglophile :) This is was a quick read, and I can't wait to get the next book to see what the girls get up to next.
