So, I've been staring at these tuxedo pants at Target for about a month now. They are not going to fit, no matter how much I want the measurements to change

That's a great idea! But! I'd say gt the best fitting women's black (or another color!) pants you can find, that make you look va va voom, and then you (or get a dressmaker to) add ribbon along the outer seam. Then go to a formalwear place and buy a commerbund.
That way you get pants that fit well and have the tuxedo details!
Tux shirts can be hard if you're busty, but men's work if you're not. You can iron a normal spread collar (what women normally get) so that most of it stands and just the tips are bent over.
I thought about that but, for some reason, I am reluctant to go all diy on this project. Because normally? I would SO be all diy. *grin* I think I just, for once, want someone ELSE to have to alter everything.
NOT AT ALL! Ii just couldn't think of seeing any women's tux pants evar. Others have, so you're all set I think. I understand. I default to DIY, but ya know, sometimes it's nice to sit back and watch the tradesman do his job.
NOT AT ALL! (bad LJ ate my first comment, so forgive if 2 show up!) I default to DIY because so little of what I like is available often. But ya know, I totally understand the joy of throwing money at something and watching it happen. Sitting back with a drink and watching the tradesman repair the whatever.
I just bought those *exact* Tuxedo pants from Target for a whopping $6 and change. The sizing runs larger on those than most Target brands...what size do you wear? (I know that the local Target has them from 18 to 24.)
ooo tux pants!! my most beloved pants i got 2 yrs ago at Debs and they are somewhat flared fitted tux pants.. i wear them EVERYWHERE! they are a LEI brand, femme something.. oh i love them. and im soo sad about how they are tryin to die on me but i REFUSE to let them! ur posted reminded me..heh good luck on ur quest!
