I do think the calf size increases at least a little bit with larger sized boots, especially at LB. I wear a size 11W, and bought three pair of boots last year at LB that fit my 19"+ calves. IMO, the quality isn't great though. I think I paid a little over $40 per pair last year, and every pair got tossed in the trash by the end of winter. (They were worn, on average, once a week.) I've had better luck, fit and quality-wise, with boots from Avenue. The four pair I bought from Avenue last year all all still going strong, after being worn all winter and most of spring. You might pay $10-$15 more for a pair from Avenue, but I think they're worth it! If you do decide to try the LB boots, you could order what you like online to take advantage of the sale, then have them shipped free directly to your closest store. I do this all the time with my local LB and they have no problem with me taking my packages into the dressing room to try stuff on, and return what doesn't work right then and there!

I just got some super-plus-wide calf boots from here: http://www.widewidths.com/. These, to be exact.

They are not cheap, obviously - I saved up for them for the better part of a year. But they are gorgeous, fit my calves, are comfortable on my feet and with some care I will probably wear them for the next 7-10 years. The pair of black mid-heeled boots I bought from this place in 2006 are still going strong with an occasional clean & polish from the cobbler. The service is excellent. The lady knows her boots and if you order a pair she thinks might not work she will call you on the phone and talk you through measuring, etc. to make sure you get the right pair.

i bought a pair of tall LB boot just last year. my calves are 19" and they fit great. only trouble is i just wore them for the first time this season and noticed the right heel felt funny. when i got home, i checked and the entire sole is coming apart from the boot. not good. i knew they weren't great quality when i bought them. i was just happy to find tall boots that fit my calves. but still a bummer. i'm guessing a cobbler could glue them but not sure how long that repair would last.

i had a pair of tall Duo boots that i loved. they're pricey of course but they lasted at least 2 years i think.

Check out Ros Hommerson's Wide Wide shaft boots - like this, this, or this - they go up to 19" and run big. I bought the Trendy Wide Shaft boots; my calves are 17.5", the boots' circumference is 17", and they're comfortably loose - I can wear skinny jeans AND thick boot cuffs easily. You can probably wear them if your calves are up to 19" or so.

Of course, these are more expensive than the LB or Avenue boots, but they're very good quality and should certainly last more than one season.
