Delurking to see if anyone can help in translating this weird new sizing convention. I've been looking for a new fall coat, and I do believe I've found it. However, the sizes I'm presented with are 1, 2, 3, and 4

that is an online only product, which is horribly frustrating. but, and this is a big but, some of the online only things tend to show up in the minnesota stores. i have a theory that it is to see how well it sells in store as i have found a ton of online only things in my local target. but, it could also be a fluke, but with how regularly it happens, i doubt it.
the sizing is listed in store but not online, which is horribly frustrating.
I have a friend that interned as a designer for Target last year. I'll ping her and see if she knows. (And they're based in Minnesota, apparently, so it makes sense they'd use the local market as a temperature gauge)
I'm a larger-sized US 18 and I usually wear a 2 in Target's plus sized stuff. Sometimes a 3 if it's something a little tighter in the chest (I'm a 44DD). Hope that helps! :)
I believe the actual size 4 (from when they used to actually put the size on the tags) is a 28/30, but it runs small in my experience ... we could just be wearing different stuff, I guess. The coats in particular seem to run at least a size smaller than the shirts/dresses. The "Pure Energy" junior line runs smaller than Merona. (I buy a lot of stuff at Target, it's like 2 blocks from my office, heh.) If you have a Target nearby, they give you exactly zero shit if you have to return stuff you ordered online.

I seem to recall that their 1/2/3/4 went something like 16W/18-20W/22-24W/26W? Or maybe I'm thinking of another store? So frustrating, I know.
I LOVE the coat, BTW. Is there a Target near you with it in stock?

I cannot understand why there is no sizing info on Target's website. That is beyond frustrating!

1X = 16/18, 2X = 20/22, 3X = 24/26, 4X = 28/30
It's bugged me in the past because I'm used to a 2X being 18/20, but I do still usually get a 2X.
