Old Navy confuses me greatly, and more.

Hi fatshionistas! My name is Orchid, and I've been lurking here for a while now but haven't posted yet because my wardrobe is...well...fail. I'm working on it, but my shape is kind of hard to deal with. At 5'4" and something like 260 pounds with a bust measurement around 52" the fact that I am the owner of a pair of b-cup boobies makes it ( Read more... )

I actually find ON Plus size stuff to be really lame. the 1X and 2X are both usually tighter than a straight sized XXL and the 3X and 4X are generally two sizes too big (all in my opinion and on my body of course). I consistently buy things in XXL straight size now because I think they are legitimately larger than the smaller plus line sizes, most of the time. And yes, it pleases me a great deal that I can finally pay the same price as everyone else instead of paying double...especially since their quality has gotten so poor with thin fabrics, inconsistent sizing even among the same items, etc.

Whoah, that's...just whoah. I had a feeling there was *something* weird going on with the sizing, but that's pretty lame.

And yes, it pleases me a great deal that I can finally pay the same price as everyone else instead of paying double. This so hard. I'm so tired of paying so much for substandard fabric and quality, that's why I was so thrilled to discover I can fit ON XXL. Yes, it's thin and maybe doesn't have the best stitching, but I bought 4 shirts for 20 bucks the day I made that discovery. Good enough!

Thanks for the info. :)

I can only speak to the ON part of your question, which is that XXL in their clothes can usually fit up to a size 24 or 26, depending on the fabric and how tight you want the item to fit on your body. I would definitely pick the XXL over the Women's Plus any day, if I could consistently fit it (I wear a 24/26), because it's cheaper and there are more options. The only "positive" to the WP line is that there is definitely more room for boobs, curves and fat rolls. If your boobs are in the B-cup range and you can fit the XXL, I'd def suggest sticking with that.

Thanks for your input! I'll definitely be sticking with the XXL, I've been so excited to have found things that accommodate both my big body and my small boobs. It's just so rare, heh.

As an 18/20 I can always fit into the straight-size XXL, sometimes even XL depending on the fabric. ON quality varies HUGELY, and their women's plus sizing is very inconsistent. I still buy almost all of my clothes there though, because the prices are very right, and I can always find a coupon or wait for a sale (which is just about every other day).

Thanks for the heads-up on the plus sizing, I had no idea. I guess I just found out why their size chart is so unhelpful, huh? I'm loving the prices, though. So peeved I didn't make this discovery sooner, but better late than never!

I prefer things in the XXL moreso than the Plus Size, because of inconsistencies (1x super small and 3x being way too big) and the need to try things on in person (I'm fairly flat-chested XD).

If you can fit the XXL, I'd stay there. I am an 18/20 and can fit XXL, sometimes XL as the commenter above me said. However, you have to be careful to see if fabric stretches or not, ime.

Awesome, thanks for sharing your experience and advice. :) I love hearing from fellow fairly-flat-chesters (yeah, had to sneak a teeny bit of alliteration in there, heh) because that's me! I still get boggled at how hard it is to find bigger sizes with slightly less chest allowance. I've never made an online clothing order because of that so I'm glad that the general consensus seems to be to stay with the XXL.

No problem-o! I am a C on most days- my bust is around 42-ish, I think? But my waist isn't far off, lmfao, and my hips aren't much more. I'm an enlongated ruler, lololol

I prefer the XXL in everything, because the plus-sizes I've tried have been far too baggy or tight in the wrong areas, just all over the place.
