Bra post #10932

I've been looking through the bra-tagged posts for the last hour and a half and couldn't find what I was looking for. I need some advice about bras. (I even found one of my old posts about bras dated almost a year ago!)

For reference, I think I wear a 46C. That's the size I'm wearing now, but the underwire is digging into my armpits. ( Read more... )

I can't help with the shop near you, but I can tell you that I used to wear ill fitting bras and have the same red marks and now that I have been professionally fitted and wear wonderful bras that fit well (though they are pretty darn expensive) I don't get them any more. My bras feel great, look fantastic and don't leave red marks so there is hope. :)

No red marks? None at all? There's hope! Thank you!

Long time reader, first time poster. But you're going to be in a region I'm familiar with. lol.

I know that problem well, I'm a 46H and I have a horrible time finding a cup size that fits and is comfortable under my arms. I have moderate luck with Layne Bryant full coverage bras.

And this place in Indianapolis is also good and came highly recommended to me (I saved the post it, which is why I have all the details), and I've gotten things there before, and they have a wide range of sizes like A to an M, I think. Its called:

The Special Woman
8770 Commerce Park Place #A
Indianapolis, IN 46268
317-876-3770

Hope that helps!

Hey, I wear 46H, too!

Sorry, it just feels so unusual (freakish) sometimes, it was nice to find someone else!

No it's totally okay! I know that feeling. I have such a hard time finding bras that fit, that I wear poorly fitting one's like 80% of the time. I have a hard time finding affordable, comfy bras.

And I too feel like a freak sometimes, so it's nice to know other people are the same size too!

*hugs*

I'll be in Indianapolis for at least a few days, so I'll try to hit up this store. Thanks for the recommendation!

I would avoid any of the department stores, generally they will fit you into a bra they have on hand whether or not it really fits you. (One of the *worst* fittings I ever had was at a Dillards) Custom bra fittings is what I have had the most luck with (and I have tried a lot) I would try this place http://www.worldsbestbras.com/ since they are based in your home town. Good Luck!

I asked on Facebook where all my friends got bra fittings and I got recommendations for Dillard's, Macy's, and Belk. Eek.

But THANK YOU for telling me about Worlds Best Bras. I can't believe they're based in Fredericksburg. I searched for lingerie stores and came up with nothing. Yay for custom fittings!!!!

I've had a fitting at Trousseau, and it was very good -- I definitely recommend them. I've also had fittings at Sylene (Chevy Chase, MD), and heard good things about The Full Cup in Alexandria.

But the very very best bra fitting ever was at Dor-Ne Corset Shoppe (http://www.dornecorset.com/) in Silver Spring. It's a little shop, easy to drive by, and they have almost no merchandise out on the floor. Instead, you wait for a dressing room and a salesperson (who I think are all women -- there was a guy working the cash register when I was there, but that was it). My salesperson was this older woman who measured me, looked at my current bra, and got me a great bra on the second try, which is tantamount to a miracle. It's really, really worth the drive. Their bras are somewhat expensive, but once you know what brand/style/size you're looking for, you can buy more online.

I forgot to mention in my post that I had seen mentions of The Full Cup and Trousseau in the previous bra posts. I did see Dor-Ne in the posts, too, but Silver Spring might be a bit far to drive. I will keep it on my list though in case nothing else works out. Thank you!

The Full Cup is pretty good - I went there about a year ago and was happy.

I live in Monmouth County! Yayyyy!

Anyway, I've never had a fitting here in MonCo, but there is a little bra shop in Stone Harbor, NJ that was just AWESOME. Unfortunately, the shops there are *extremely* seasonal and Winter just ain't their season, so I don't know if it would be open.

If you get to take a South Jersey adventure and end up in the Sea Isle/Avalon/Stone Harbor/Wildwoods area, it would be on the bay side of 96th street, like a half a block north. Of course, I don't remember what it's called, but they put me in a bra that made me look two sizes smaller in my waist because it actually fit correctly and put my boobs in a better place.

You should try Bra Fancy in Matawan.

I'll try it! All my friends from the Ocean County area say Bra & Girdle Factory in Lakewood or where ever it is, but really...Bra & Girdle Factory???

Haha, everyone in the city recommends Orchard Corset but I went and had a dreadful experience. It's probably pretty individual. If you ask me, NOTHING beats bravissimo but you have to go to England for that so....
