OOTD and lots of reviews: Target, belt from Etsy's Iamerica, eBay corset, Lolita-esque skirts...

So I’ve been doing a healthy amount of shopping lately (my justification: the economy needs my help). I went out for martinis last night and decided to play dress up and play around with some new stuff. Plus when I’m mulling an article of clothing I do like to see it on a non-model body, so maybe I can help some of you decide.

lots of photographic evidence of my recent shopping sprees; corset might be considered NSFW )

dresses, ootd, target, ebay, online shopping, reviews, successful shopping trips, raves

Aww thanks. Just been reading your LJ, actually. I am enough of a dork that I actually cheered when I took the "which Jane Austen character are you?" test and was Elizabeth Bennett. Yeah, it's a scintilating Saturday night here!

Love the first look on you. It looks short on the website but seeing it on you makes me want it. You are one inch taller than me. I like knee length dresses.

Me too, and this one hits at just about the perfect place: right at the knee. I've had bad luck with length on skirts and dresses lately. I know that it's a serious pain it the ass for petites to find the right length, but it's perhaps even more of a pain when nothing is long enough -- it's easier to hem than to add an inch!

Your post got me interested in purchasing the first dress from Target (and I did ordered it online) and wanting the Igigi wrap dress and another one on the site. However, I thought they were a tad bit expensive. But now they are having a sale, I thought I'd let you know just in case you wanted to get a price adjustment.

Thanks! I got that email this morning and already shot off a new order.

Unfortunately Igigi doesn't do price adjustments, which is going to mean a huge pain in the ass: when the dress FINALLY arrives on Wednesday, I'll send it back and place a new order with free shipping; it's worth it for the discount. That's very silly of Igigi, as it means more work for them. It would be much simpler to just give me the darn adjustment. In fact I might call and tell them as much.

I knooooooow! Black was actually my first impulse, but they were totally out of black fabric and I was afraid that if I waited for more black fabric, the skirt would be discontinued. Right now the whole online shop is closed for a few weeks, but as of yesterday, most of the skirts *except* the Wonderland one were still listed as available. Maybe it will be back, but maybe it won't. Anyway, I think it was really reasonably priced for a custom-fitted garment: it was something like $38. And it and the petticoats seem very well made.

If you go to this page --

-- there are pictures of a custom job that wedded the Wonderland skirt to one of their puff-sleeve shirts to create a really cute (and only a wee bit over the top) Wonderland dress. Talk about perfect for an Alice-themed tea party!
