OOTD and lots of reviews: Target, belt from Etsy's Iamerica, eBay corset, Lolita-esque skirts...

So I’ve been doing a healthy amount of shopping lately (my justification: the economy needs my help). I went out for martinis last night and decided to play dress up and play around with some new stuff. Plus when I’m mulling an article of clothing I do like to see it on a non-model body, so maybe I can help some of you decide.

lots of photographic evidence of my recent shopping sprees; corset might be considered NSFW )

dresses, ootd, target, ebay, online shopping, reviews, successful shopping trips, raves

Love the first look on you. It looks short on the website but seeing it on you makes me want it. You are one inch taller than me. I like knee length dresses.

Me too, and this one hits at just about the perfect place: right at the knee. I've had bad luck with length on skirts and dresses lately. I know that it's a serious pain it the ass for petites to find the right length, but it's perhaps even more of a pain when nothing is long enough -- it's easier to hem than to add an inch!

Your post got me interested in purchasing the first dress from Target (and I did ordered it online) and wanting the Igigi wrap dress and another one on the site. However, I thought they were a tad bit expensive. But now they are having a sale, I thought I'd let you know just in case you wanted to get a price adjustment.

Thanks! I got that email this morning and already shot off a new order.

Unfortunately Igigi doesn't do price adjustments, which is going to mean a huge pain in the ass: when the dress FINALLY arrives on Wednesday, I'll send it back and place a new order with free shipping; it's worth it for the discount. That's very silly of Igigi, as it means more work for them. It would be much simpler to just give me the darn adjustment. In fact I might call and tell them as much.

You are welcome. Oh I see, that is the ashame that they don't adjust prices. I am going to place my order when I leave work, I have to verify my measurements. With this sale going on, I am worried that my sizes will be sold out, but we shall see when I go to order tonight.

Hey Caramel_deluxe:

The Igigi wrap dress was a big disappointment -- clingy and cheap-looking and really unflattering. The pockets about which I was so excited made the dress look like it had big saddlebags hanging from each hip: not a good look for anyone. And the material is one that I absolutely loathe: that clingy, shiny crap that all plus-size clothes used to be made of and that I thought disappeared a few years ago.

If you're going to indulge in the Igigi sales, I'd recommend the trench dresses instead!

Oh no.. I already placed my order, should be arriving next week. I was trying to replace my tried and true, 8 yr. old wrap dress but I guess not. I will be sending it back. I did order the single breasted shirt dress so we will see how that one works out. I may have to get the Trench dress but I was worried it might make me look wider. I'll decide before the sale if over. You should do an OOTD with that dress, if you don't mind.

Well I hope it looks better on you. I would take a picture but I've already sent it back! I just can't stand that material and don't know why so many plus designers think "yes! I'll use a slinky material that clings to every curve and bump!" I also got this belt, though ( ... )

Yeah, I got the khaki color shirt dress, but you are making me want to place another order. I wear a 22/24 in their sizing so there are two Charcoal dresses left for me. Humm, I can get that, the trench dress and the pencil skirt. What size did you get in the Trench? Is that your normal size in say LB stuff? Did you buy this? How did it fit?

I have to stop talking to you, you are getting me into trouble! I have spent $300 messing with you! Just kidding, I love a deal on solid, nontrendy, quality pieces and I can afford it, so why not?

Muahahaha -- I am a fatshion enabler! I shouldn't be spending the money either, but as you say if it's for something I love and know I'll get a lot of use from, I like to take advantage of a sale ( ... )

Yes, you are an enabler, thanks!! My Target order shipped today. $100 worth of dresses. Stop me!!!

I am really considering the Trench dress after reading your review, I will probably order a size 20. I can see wearing it this fall with my knee boot or pumps. Now, I am worried about my items that I already ordered being too big. Oh well, I'll figure it out when my things arrive in a week. I, also, ordered the lace red blouse, I can see wearing a red flower in my hair with it. lol Igigi shipping is really slow.
