That's outrageous. I've been dragged to one of the most heavily attended cons on the west coast and even THEY wouldn't dream of charging a fee like that. Not anywhere NEAR it. I think if my kid came o me begging to go and then announced the fee.. I'd not only tell them no - if they persisted I'd ground them. Honestly what are the organizers thinking.. we're in (at the very least) recession.. course it is in texas.. maybe they didn't get the memo..
and I'll second that Washington location. They could probably use the revenue.
I'm wondering if the high price has to do with a low expected turnout rate. I mean, Comic-Con (don't know if that's the con you're talking about, but it is one of the biggest out here) has thousands of attendees so they can spread the costs of the con around a little more than some little Twilight group, but I have been to smaller cons and they aren't anything close to that cost.
with that price the turnout is going to be VERY low. and I've never been to comic-con. I just heard Gallifrey in LA this year is $70 at the door (someone i know is going)
I can't think it would be a small con considering the turnout of a local event. They were mobbed - people came from hours away - and they had to close the mall for several hours.

If you want all the features...it's $375!! But this con is geared towards adults and 14-17 year olds are required to have a parent/guardian with them.
