News: TwiCon 2009

Seriously, I know I make fun of Twilight a lot and I don't mean to mock someone else's fandom (too much) but yeesh:

It's not the fact that Twilight fans have a convention that surprises me.  EVERY fandom has a convention.  Nancy Drew.  Star Trek.  Star Wars.  Anime.  Furries.  Whatever.  If you want to have a Twilight fan event, that's A-OK.

But $255.00 registration PER PERSON?

Seriously?
Dude, that's not including your hotel costs or food or transportation.  Absolutely ridiculous.
But, in case any of you were considering attendance:

TwiCon 2009
July 30-August 2, 2009
Sheraton Dallas Hotel
400 North Olive Street
Dallas, TX 75201

(Shouldn't you be having this little shindig in Forks, WA?)

JUST ADDED:

Speaking of over-priced conventions, Azkatraz 2009, a Harry Potter convention, is also worthy of consideration.  Basic registration for the three-day event starts at $145, and there are multiple tiers of  "sponsorship" that one can opt for.
hxcpunkchick has determined that if you wanted to get all the perks of this con, you'd have to shell out $375.00.
