Home and Away

At home I am still bogged down in income tax hell...and I haven't even started my own taxes yet. I spent a good part of today wrassling with Samantha's. We filed them this weekend, then turned up a brokerage statement we had omitted. They had to be amended. Now we have to send paper copies of both the original 1040 and the amended 1040 to the IRS, ( Read more... )

Sounds painful and a bit frustrating. I hope the new shoes work for you.

Alas, they did not. I got them a full size larger than I usually wear, and they are far too slip-slidey for safety. As soon as I feel safe on the sidewalks, I'm taking them back and trying the same shoe in a half size larger than usual. Maybe that will work. I hope. FanSee

I'm so sorry! That's what used to scare me about my boss. He loved crocs and he had bad ankles. I was always terrified when he was walking on certain surfaces in the theatre.

Are you gently able to file down the nail with an emery board, even a little?
Would putting something like a corn plaster or a piece of Moleskin help? Moleskin is soft, adherent & easy to apply & remove. You could use a small fresh piece each day.

I hope you get relief from your new shoes.

From internet search for Moleskin:
Dr. Scholl's Moleskin Plus Padding Strips, 3 3/8" x 4 5/8" - 3 count. Approx. $3.29
Moleskin's soft cotton flannel padding can be cut to any size for relief of painful corns, calluses, and tender spots.

I get a pedicure at least once a month and have the toenails on both big toes ground down with the electric grinder. (Don't know what the dang thing is called. I should learn its Chinese name; that would be useful at my shop.)

I'll have to get some Moleskin and see if it blunts my razor-sharp toenail. (I don't think they really use the skin of moles, do you?) Thanks for the recommendation! ♥

The new shoes don't fit, so as soon as I feel safe on the sidewalks, back they go. The right shoe is too large, such that I have to clench my toes to keep it on. I know from experience that that ain't safe. FanSee

No, they don't. :)) If you get some therapeutic moleskin, I hope it helps.

I wanted to include an image of an adorable baby mole but couldn't get it to upload to Photobucket and then here. It's been so long since I've used PB that I think I forgot how.

Too bad so good thing you can bring them back. Clenching toes to keep a shoe on - nope, not what you want. I hope you get a pair that fits well.

You have my sympathies regarding the shoes issue. I hate shoes because of the way my feet swell up during the day thanks to my diabetes. Problem is that one foot always swells twice as much as the other so getting a good fit with shoes is nearly impossible. That's okay. I don't go out that often and I never wear anything but socks at home. At least this way my one pair of shoes last a long time. LOL!

I swear, everybody I know who is over sixty has some problem with their feet: hammer toes, plantar fasciitis, thin padding of the soles, you name it. Getting old ain't easy, as we know. FanSee
