I've been re-reading bits of ASoS and AFfC lately and I thought I'd share my favorite Jaime/Brienne moments and ask your opinions on some stuff

Jaime hitting Brienne's former suitor for insulting her always makes me squee.

When I first came across this part I think I went back and re-read the entire section at least four times in succession. *hugs self* It just made me really love Jaime at that moment, y'know?

Cersei wouldn't give Brienne the time of day. *grumbles* Hateful cow.

I look forward to Cersei realizing Jaime might actually like Brienne. It might make her jump out of a tower window. :D

Hey, my opinion is biased as well when it comes to Jaime/Brienne. :p They bring out positive qualities in one another.

I can see Cersei discounting Brienne almost entirely were she presented with her in a the context of fellow highborn noblewoman. But in terms of Jaime? That's a completely different story. Jaime respects aspects of Brienne that Cersei doesn't possess (and perhaps wishes she did). I can totally see jealousy blooming there.

What love about them the most is how Jaime can't fight his growing fondness for her. He doesn't want to stop calling wench but he can't bring himself to, he doesn't want to go back to Harrenhall to save her but he can't not go back, etc. His whole relationship with Cersei just reeks of desperately hanging on to something that no longer exists in the pure form it used to or possibly never did. In contrast everything about the way he is with Brienne is so new and so empowering for him.

See, I see that too. I...I can't help liking Jaime for SOME of his qualities, even while I still can't like him for others. But the things that leave me cold about Jamie pretty much involve Cersei.

I could give an unbias Jaime/Brienne comment hehe..but I'll ask first seeing how I wouldn't want to step on anyone's toes..Mind a little debate?

Well, I wouldn't mind some discussion! I always like to hear different opinions because they usually give me a perspective I might not have perceived otherwise. :)

*facepalms* It's so typical of me I encourage you to post and then neglect to respond for days. So sorry about that. :(

You make a lot of points that I can agree with regarding what we've seen of Jaime's character to date, especially in terms of his near-blind devotion to Cersei.

pojypojy has some interesting Brienne/Jaime things to say here. I think you'll see some things you can agree with in her assessment of Jaime. :)

They're both in AFfC. The Brienne one occurs in either her first or second chapter, I think. And Jaime smacks Red Ronnet Connington with his golden hand at Harrenhal; I don't remember the exact chapter.
