I've been re-reading bits of ASoS and AFfC lately and I thought I'd share my favorite Jaime/Brienne moments and ask your opinions on some stuff ( Read more... )

Jaime hitting Brienne's former suitor for insulting her always makes me squee.

When I first came across this part I think I went back and re-read the entire section at least four times in succession. *hugs self* It just made me really love Jaime at that moment, y'know?

Cersei wouldn't give Brienne the time of day. *grumbles* Hateful cow.

I look forward to Cersei realizing Jaime might actually like Brienne. It might make her jump out of a tower window. :D

Hey, my opinion is biased as well when it comes to Jaime/Brienne. :p They bring out positive qualities in one another.

I can see Cersei discounting Brienne almost entirely were she presented with her in a the context of fellow highborn noblewoman. But in terms of Jaime? That's a completely different story. Jaime respects aspects of Brienne that Cersei doesn't possess (and perhaps wishes she did). I can totally see jealousy blooming there.

Honestly the reason I hate Cersei is for the way she treated Jaime. Jaime would do and has done anything and everything for her - and she cheats on him with the likes of Lancel and the Kettleblacks? The woman is clearly not right in the head! I want her to know that Jaime's found a woman who will appreciate him. By the way, notice that no one ever complains about the age difference between Lancel and Cersei?

Also, I may be paranoid here, but did you suspect that Cersei wanted Jaime to become a Kingsguard so she could become Tywin's heir, not to be near her as she claimed?

Cersei doesn't respect Jaime in the slightest. She's been using him as comfort, sword and shield for their entire lives; he's never wanted anything else, but she's always, ALWAYS used him to further her own ambitions.

I'm so glad he broke up with her.

By the way, notice that no one ever complains about the age difference between Lancel and Cersei? Oh yeah...go touching on one of my pet peeves regarding juvenile/adult relationships. :p An older woman for young boys is considered "training" or a "rite of passage" with a wink-wink and a nudge-nudge...but the opposite is invariably an abusive violation. *facepalms* I despise ageism, but I especially hate entitled patriarchal ageism ( ... )

Let's not even go into them fucking by Joffrey's body because OMG noes.

I reread that last night and gagged all over again. One of the things I hate most about Cersei is how all of Jaime's character development goes right out the window when he's with her and then how it comes back the second he's away from her. The end of AFfC gives me hope that he well and truly understands that now.

*nods* I was so happy he broke up with her, even though I'm going to be really surprised if he ends up keeping his promise to protect and nurture Tommen.

I'm pretty curious about that myself. He has this strange relationship with his children. He knows they're his but I think in this twisted way he does view them as Robert and Cersei's children. I certainly wouldn't want to claim any genetic connection to Joffrey but part of me hopes he does look after Tommen and develops a bond with him. Mostly just b/c I love Tommen and want him looked after.

Well, you could argue that Joffrey might have benefited from more of Jaime's input, but then again that would have been Jaime while he was under the influence of his obsession with Cersei as well.

Hell, Tyrion tried to discipline and educate Joffrey more than Jaime did (at least that we saw).
