It was somehow even more glittery than it had been earlier in the evening, though there was still time for any latecomers to show before the moment you'd all been waiting for.

Be sure to quiet down for Principal McGonagall's announcement.

"Maybe you can lead, then?" Yes, that absolutely was a blush and a fidget from Evan, why? "I mean, so that I don't make us both end up tripping over someone else on the dance floor or anything like that..."

He'd run unblinking into a battle if the need ever arose, but throw him onto a dance floor and the kid was kind of useless.

"Would you like a hand with your tiara?"

"...yes," Liara said. To both questions.

The tone was mostly reserved for the latter, though.

"This was designed to be put on hair!"

"Yeah, Freshman year wasn't really taken into consideration when they got these things, I don't think," Evan noted, casting a glance in Bucky's direction before reaching for her tiara and considering it for a moment. "Do you mind if I bend it a little? I think I can make it kind of... hook on, if I do."

It seemed like it was probably the easiest fix, at least.

"No, please, do what you feel is needed."

She was very happy her mother wasn't here to see this.

Evan nodded, taking into consideration the shape of her crest, and then the shape of the tiara itself, before giving it a few quick zaps with his eyes to warm it up and make it slightly more malleable. And then, with a quick bend here, and another one there, he had it re-shaped near the back so that instead of relying on hair to keep it attached, it would hug the contours of her head, instead.

"Here, let's try this, instead? Tell me if it's uncomfortable and I'll adjust it some more."

Liara fit the tiara gingerly over the ridges of her scalp. It went much more easily this time.

"That is better," she said, sounding relieved. "Thank you."

"You're welcome," Evan said, giving Liara a bright little smile before taking a step back, almost immediately into a little bow that looked only slightly more confident than he felt. "May I have this dance?"

It felt like a whole generation of butterflies had just moved into his stomach. A ladies' man, Evan was not.

Liara smiled in spite of herself. "Well, I did offer it to you," she said, reaching for one of his hands, "It would be rude to take it back."

If it was anyone else, there probably would have been some fancy, smug sort of retort to that, witty and confident and full of heat and passion as Liara was led out to the dance floor.

It wasn't anyone else, it was Evan, and a win for him at this point was to keep from stuttering as she took his hand to lead him, because he had no idea what he was doing and there was a really pretty girl about to dance with him. And so?

"Okay," he said, and gave her a broad smile. "I, um. I promise I won't step on your feet."

It was okay. If he had been witty and confident and full of heat and passion, Liara would have probably flailed, tripped all over her words, and landed them both in a big pile of awkward doesn't-quite-have-the-pigment-to-blush on the dance floor.

"Thank you," she said honestly, and led them into the first steps she had learned.

She didn't step on Evan's toes, but she was very much aware that she wasn't nearly as graceful or elegant as her mother, which rather soured the moment.

Tony put his fingers in his mouth, whistling loudly to cheer for the fellow winners of the court. Then clapped for them. Because he was that sort of person.

Also, the punch was spiked.

Oh, Stephanie was so doing the shrill whistle. For Tony, mind you, more so than everyone else.

She was allowed, shut up.

"See, you're dating royalty," Tony informed her with a kiss to the cheek.

"For the second year in a row," Stephanie added, beaming at him. "Better not let it get to your head, though."

She paused.

"Even if your head does look good in a crown."

Petra fistpumped and exclaimed, "YESSsssss!" and then remembered her Accepting a Crown manners and smiled and waved to her adoring public.
