Bruce made it to the island slightly late - figuring out the timing for travel had become a bit less intuitive since Fandom slowed down compared to his world - but still well before the court announcement. He was curious who would take his crown, sue him. And yes, he was going to miss several days in his world to find out.

Shut up, he was not obsessive. And the fact that his suit was without a trace of glitter even minutes after arriving didn't disprove that statement.

"Bruce," Lucrezia said, approaching him and offering a curtsy. "You're looking well. Have you been on any adventures since last we met?"

She was wearing a considerably more refined gown than she had the previous Homecoming. Tonight wasn't a night for dramatics.

"Good evening, Lucrezia," Bruce said. "I'd pay you similar compliments, but you must be have heard enough by now to be bored of them."

"Unfortunately, the only real adventure I've had since the last time I was in Fandom is into the realm of higher education. It's a very different kind of adventure."

"A lady never grows tired of hearing of her own beauty," she laughed. "Are you home, then, and not climbing mountains? My summer was considerably more adventurous than yours, it would seem."

Not all of those had been pleasant adventures, but that was hardly a subject for a dance.

"Well, I had the week here when Delores Umbrige took over," Bruce said. "But aside from that, I'm strictly an academic for the moment."

"Well, I might find some time for extracurricular activities. But don't tell anyone."

Lucrezia laughed. "I had Rome, and its usual plots," she said. "Though I've less time for extracurriculars, I fear. I've added a new correspondent of late. You must congratulate me, for I am to be married."

And this time, to someone she actually wanted to marry, which made a considerable improvement over the last time.

"The sentiment is appreciated," Lucrezia said, in a softer tone. "But, happily, it is quite unnecessary."

She had never talked to Bruce about her last marriage -- it was not a subject on which she liked to dwell -- but she imagined he had guessed plenty. Enough to know at least that those threats would have been needed.
