Much like someone else who was at work in Fandom today, April had gotten her hands on that new "erotic bestseller" everyone was talking about.

However, April was not using it for its intended purpose. Or even reading it with her pants on. No, instead she was tearing out pages one by one and tossing them like basketballs into a series of differently-

"Have you read most books?" asked Samus, taking a swig of a drink and then firing the next page missile, because she knew what priorities were.

If she was terrible, she might have made a comment about judging and covers but, thankfully, she was not terrible.

"I've read Dusk."

"Should I be impressed?"

"Good," said Samus, "then I don't have to feel bad that I'm not."

Not that she would feel bad, anyway.

She took a quick shot and gave the girl a little bit of a closer look. "You were one of the guests at the barbeque my housemates held a little bit ago, right?"

"That depends," April said, though she knew the answer was yes. "Are your housemates two hot guys?"

If anyone honestly expected Samus to keep a straight face with that one, then they were probably delusional. She actually let out a bark of a laugh at that one, shaking her head as it petered down to a chuckle.

"I guess if that's your type."

April examined her fingernails. "They're not."

Somehow, that gesture wasn't exactly convincing. "Uh-huh," she said dryly. "SO I guess it would be pointless to have me pass onto them how well-read you are, too."

April eyed her. "Pass on whatever you want," she said. "You know. At the risk of sounding like a boring person."

"I could stand to be a little more boring," Samus admitted with a snort, and that definitely called for another shot and another page sailing for a glass.

A grin quirked the corner of Samus's mouth.

"Spoken like someone who's used to it."

April... didn't grin, exactly, but it was a close thing. "I'm from southwestern Indiana," she said slowly. "The fourth most obese city in America. The bowling alley closes at 7:30."
