There was glitter, oh, was there ever glitter in a multitude of sparkly colours.  But even more so, it seemed that the decorators had taken the 'Hearts Afire' theme literally as large cut ( Read more... )

"That's probably better than thinking that a group so willing to fight monsters is scared to dance with pretty girls," Bruce said, taking her hand. "But I won't complain about having a little more room."

"Then I guess you're way braver than any of them," Jean shot back.

"I don't know about that. I just know how to show a lady a good time," Bruce said.

Which was only partially true. He was 15, after all. Mostly he just had a lot of confidence in himself.

And Jean was a cooougar. Such a cougar.

"Are you going to lead?" Jean teased. "Or do I have to?"

Bruce stepped up to the plate and led. Metaphorically. There wasn't an actual plate. But he did actually lead.

"I will. I insist," Bruce said.

If there was more than an metaphorical plate, this would be a very strange dance.

"How are you liking the party then?"

"It's pretty nice," Bruce said. "The decorations are slightly alarming, but at least we haven't stumbled across an animal that isn't supposed to be an animal."

Yes, he spotted Robin on the dance floor.

[OMG, running off to an Olympics/hockey night at a friends house! SP? :) ]

Jean made a face. Because only pretty people got the love and support of the X-Men.

"Yeah, it's a bit weird."

"Compared to the rest of Fandom, it's perfect," Bruce said.

"I think a frog made out of felt is weird no matter where you are," Jean pointed out helpfully.

"Oh. I thought you were talking about the decorations," Bruce said. "Still, it's not that much stranger than people turning into animals. He just has a head start on everyone else."

Kurt was a dancing MACHINE. He got down, boogied like a pro, and shook his TAIL.

...Eventually, he realized he was shaking his ACTUAL tail, and he stuffed it back up under his shirt and hoped nobody had noticed.

Leda did notice if that's okay and thought nothing of it. Who cares, the boy could dance! Leda slid over to him.

"May I join you good Sir?"

Jonothon wasn't so certain about any 'boogie, boogie motion,' but there was a decently slow song playing now, and he'd asked his girlfriend to a dance, and so he was going to make with whatever motion happened to seem appropriate to the situation.

And he was going to bloody well enjoy it.

//Yer know, we really don't do things like this often enough,// he decided, offering Didi his hand.

"We don't," Didi agreed, as she took his hand and stepped into his arms. "We see each other at work, and in our rooms, but we never really do the out-on-dates thing."

She swayed with him. "We should."
