It wasn't Shira's common room, but that wasn't stopping her from plopping herself down on a couch and flipping through the TV channels

It definitely wasn't Ariel's common room, either, but she was feeling anxious; she wanted it to be tomorrow to find out about the play, and she wanted it to be later in the week for clubs and Monday was just too long sometimes so she figured it was a good chance for exploring. First, the common rooms, and, if nothing interesting was going on there, she'd hit up the junkyard for the day and see if there might be anything particularly shiny there.
"Oh, hi!" she said, smiling at the girl already there. "Anything interesting on TV?"
"Not really," Shira said with a shake of her head. "I can't even find reruns of that stuff they call reality television." Which she was pretty sure meant the television was broken, because that programming was always on some channel!
"It's hard to find something good in the afternoons," Ariel said with sympathetic agreement. "I think they do it on purpose, because they're all, 'hey, it's the afternoon, you should go out and have fun and not just sit and watch TV!'"
She shrugged, flopping into a chair anyway because she figured she'd go and do that shortly enough. She was tilting her head thoughtfully at the other girl, trying to figure out if she was as unfamiliar as she seemed.
"Have we met before?" she finally just asked. "Do you live on this floor? I'm all the way up on the fifth floor, so maybe I just miss you a lot."
Shira frowned slightly, thinking about it. "No, I don't think we have," she said, studying Ariel. "But I do live on the fifth floor, so I should have seen you before."
Or maybe not. She'd been kind of hermity for the most part since getting to the school. Only person who'd really seen her had been her roommmate and that was only because he, you know, lived in the same room.
This was Karla's common room, though she didn't mind other people stopping in. For one thing, more people usually meant more food and when was Karla going to turn that down.
"Kiss kiss," she called, sticking her head in the room. "I don't suppose anyone's making lunch plans?"
This seemed to be slumming day, as Leda was a native of the fifth floor herself. Her arm was still in a sling, but at least her shoulder was not aching and itching quite as bad as it had been.
"An old friend ran my shoulder through." she said. Which was both a shorter, and in her mind, wittier version of the entire story. She still was conflicted about how that whole incident had ended too.
Cassidy had decided that after her trip to the library, she wanted chocolate and some of the soda she had been introduced to here in Fandom before she went back to her room with her new book. Ordinarily, she loved her tea, but there was something about the sweet bubbly beverage that she just couldn't resist.
For someone as cheerful as she was usually, that much sugar and caffeine probably was not the best idea.
She had her nose in her book as she came into the common room on her floor, so it took her a moment to realize that it was already occupied.
"Hi," Shira called over. "Careful, probably want to be watching where you're going so you don't flip over a couch or something." But there was a faint smile on her face to take the sting out of the criticism.
Cassidy lifted her eyes from the book with an embarrassed smile. "I'm sorry, it's just that this book is really..." Her expression changed as delight lit up her face. "You're a Sister!"
You know, one of these days, that psychic scent thing was probably going to get the witches from Kaeleer into trouble -- especially if witches from outside of Kaeleer weren't as open and friendly as Cassidy was. For now, though, Cassidy was just going to be very excited that she and Karla had another Sister around.
Someone could explain to her about Terrielle later.

See Karla stare. Stare, Karla, stare.

"How the hell do you know that?"
Notice that denying it never even entered her mind.

"I am," Shira said cautiously, with a slight nod.
