It definitely wasn't Ariel's common room, either, but she was feeling anxious; she wanted it to be tomorrow to find out about the play, and she wanted it to be later in the week for clubs and Monday was just too long sometimes so she figured it was a good chance for exploring. First, the common rooms, and, if nothing interesting was going on there, she'd hit up the junkyard for the day and see if there might be anything particularly shiny there.

"Oh, hi!" she said, smiling at the girl already there. "Anything interesting on TV?"

"Not really," Shira said with a shake of her head. "I can't even find reruns of that stuff they call reality television." Which she was pretty sure meant the television was broken, because that programming was always on some channel!

"It's hard to find something good in the afternoons," Ariel said with sympathetic agreement. "I think they do it on purpose, because they're all, 'hey, it's the afternoon, you should go out and have fun and not just sit and watch TV!'"

She shrugged, flopping into a chair anyway because she figured she'd go and do that shortly enough. She was tilting her head thoughtfully at the other girl, trying to figure out if she was as unfamiliar as she seemed.

"Have we met before?" she finally just asked. "Do you live on this floor? I'm all the way up on the fifth floor, so maybe I just miss you a lot."

Shira frowned slightly, thinking about it. "No, I don't think we have," she said, studying Ariel. "But I do live on the fifth floor, so I should have seen you before."

Or maybe not. She'd been kind of hermity for the most part since getting to the school. Only person who'd really seen her had been her roommmate and that was only because he, you know, lived in the same room.

"Oh, no kidding?" asked Ariel. "Which room? I'm in 517."

"Ah, maybe that's just it then," she sad with a light laugh. " At other ends of the hallway! My name's Ariel, by the way, maybe we'll see each other more now! What brought you all the way down here today?"

"I'm Shira," she replied. "And I'm just... bored, I suppose. And since there's so much of this place that I haven't explored just within the school itself, I thought I'd start with a common room that wasn't my own." Maybe later she'd actually venture off school grounds.

"And you wind up meeting someone from your actual floor," Ariel noted with amusement. "I'm just antsy, myself. Too many exciting things going on later in the week, but I've got to get through Monday first. Sometimes, I swear, they seem to last forever."

"I know what you mean," Shira said with a nod. "Though, really, that's kind of the same for any days standing between you and whatever it is you really want to be doing, isn't it?"

"Definitely!" Ariel agreed. "And, of course, everything I want to be doing starts on Tuesday!"

"Which just means you have to find a way to make your Monday exciting," Shira reasoned.

"Yup," Ariel agreed, head bobbing. "I had class earlier; it was food class, so that helped, and now I'm here meeting neighbors I haven't met yet, and then I'll probably go exploring later."

"Exploring is rarely a bad thing." Shira grinned. "I could stand to do with a bit more of that myself, actually."

"You definitely should!" Ariel encouraged. "There are lots of exciting places here. I love the beach, and the trees in the preserve are so much fun to get lost in. The junkyard's always exciting, too; that's probably where I'll go today."

Leda grinned upon seeing Ariel, and signed; I hear you can talk now.
