"Okay, buddy, check out what I got for you." Hiccup emptied his pockets, and then the tablecloth full of food he'd...acquired from the picnic. "Don't know what any of it is, but it's all good stuff."
They were out of the woods. The people he'd talked to hadn't seemed to see any problems with the dragon, and he had been allowed to bring him, so he'

She approached slowly so as not to spook anyone.
"Hiccup?"

"Cassie, hi, you came." He grabbed hold of Toothless' harness and hauled himself to his feet. "That's my roomate," he said to the dragon, whose ears went forward, suspicious look changing to curious. "Cassie, meet Toothless. Toothless, meet Cassie."

Given that Tootless was slinking forward like a cat towards Cassidy, head outstretched in obvious invitation, it was probably fine. "He likes being rubbed under the chin."

She had no idea what in the world it was, and that just made her even more fascinating. Was this some sort of land shark? It looked like it could be! She was just going to watch for a second as she tried to decide if it was safe or not. It seemed to be, if the other people on the lawn weren't too perturbed.

"What is it, buddy?" Hiccup asked, looking in the same direction as the dragon. He could just see a face peeking around the corner. "Oh, hi!" He waved. "He won't hurt you, I promise. He's friendly. You can come and meet him if you want to."
Hiccup had hit on a plan: the more people that met Toothless, the better off the dragon would be.

She peeked back out, gave a nervous smile, and then slowly started to step forward. One of her hands started to move forward, holding it out to the land shark tentatively. She tried to keep her eyes on the creature, but she did glance, as quick as she could, a few times toward the boy who obviously seemed to be the shark's trainer or something like it, to see how he was reacting to it. Did he look eager? Like he couldn't wait for the moment for Ariel to be in the right spot so he could say the word and the shark could bite her in half?

So far, he'd been to an airport--which was filled with people and things to chew on, but he wasn't allowed to chew on those things because they might contain Medusa's garments and that was a bad Lockjaw. Bad.--and now this island. There were just so many new and wonderful smells too!
Like over there by those people! Perhaps they had something for him to chew on.
Ah, a day in the life of a bulldog the size of a small pony.

"Toothless, what are you doing...ohhhh." Hiccup's eyes widended when he saw the-- "Is that a dog? That can't be a dog. It's huge."

Instead of having to wander off to have solo adventures with pets of various heroes...
He stopped a few feet away from the thing, plopping back to stare at it. And bark again.

"Okay, that's enough." Hiccup held up his hands and moved to stand between the dragon and the giant dog, one hand on Toothless' nose. "No picking fights," he told Toothless, then turned to the dog. "You, you're way too big, but I'm going to assume you don't want to eat me. Right?"
Yes, Hiccup, because the dog will be able to answer you. "So Toothless, you can just stop growling and you," back to the dog, "stop barking. Today is a day for making friends."

No matter she could stop it eating that kid with Richard's stupid haircut with her bare hands if she had to.
Bad Cara, no killy!

Despite the description, he was still relieved when he finally came in sight of Hiccup and Toothless. "You weren't kidding about pony-sized." That face was a lot less ... mini-Godzilla-y than he'd been picturing, too.

"Emmett, this is Toothless. Toothless, this is Emmett. Be nice. He's my assigned big sibling, which, actually, I have no idea what that means," he added, while Toothless stretched his neck out in Emmett's general direction. "But no jumping on him."
