Third Floor Common Room / January 16 / Morning

Jan 16, 2010 23:32

Azula with her left cheek stinging woke to the cold. It was cold and dark and when she attempted to open the light fixtures no light came on. Azula went out to investigate. The outside world was blanketed in snow, she moved to the common room and found a fireplace. A surprise since there was none before. There was, Azula concluded, no use ( Read more... )

Chuck would agree. Strange, strange day. Normally, he really wouldn't be up this early on a weekend, but it was freezing, and something like that would wake anyone. Even sent him in search of other people to share this with, except... It wasn't freezing in here.

"Heat!" Very astute, Chuck.

"How observant of you," Azula remarked.

"... Was there a fireplace there before?" Pretty sure he hadn't been imagining it's absence, but-- Worth checking.

"It's always been here," she replied, completely straight faced. She provided the heat, Azula figured she was entitled to a little fun.

Liir had figured out the moment he woke up in his room that something was different. The room had been cold, dark ( ... )

"I'd care for some," Azula said, she had been watching him cook the scent of food caught her interest quickly but he did something with the fire and that interested Azula more. "Did you do something with the fire?"

He shrugged.

"Not sure if I do it to the fire or to me," he admitted, hand cheerfully sticking right in the flames to finish off the pancakes and bacon.

The magic Glinda had taught him worked differently from what he'd learned on his own, but he seemed to be able to do both and so he didn't think on it too hard. Well, no more hard than he thought on anything.

"Could you bring a plate over? I forgot that one small detail."

Azula wasn't partial to being ordered around, not by anyone not her father but she could make adjustments, especially if, in the end, it would benefit her. She took the plate and passed it to him.

"Is it magic or an ability?"

Karla came in, accompanied by a small flotilla of floating globes of witchlight. "Kiss kiss!" she called, poking her head in. "Oh, it's lovely warm in here--" she started, before catching a glimpse of Azula.

Immediately, her eyes narrowed. "You," she said, pointing. "What the hell is wrong with you?!"

Azula sipped her tea and raised her eyebrow, "Absolutely nothing." Her cheek throbbed slightly, "Well, almost nothing."

"Beyond irreparable idiocy, you mean?" Karla snapped, coming further into the room. "I'm trying to decide if your issues stem from sheer incompetence, a lack of oxygen in your infancy, or pride so large it interferes with proper brain functions!"

"And so early in the morning too," Azula murmured. The ranting reminded her so much of Zuzu. It was quite nostalgic. "I'm sure you have a number of insults in your arsenal but I've no clue what you're referring to. Maybe you should elaborate and stop frothing in the mouth?"

So there was a common room with a boy and three quarreling women (well, all right, one of them was Liir, and he wasn't really quarreling, but he was practically a woman anyway and Arthur didn't feel the least bit interested in figuring out whether or not that assumption was true) and Arthur was looking for some food to take back to his room for the day.

While all the quarreling went on and Liir did his thing with the fire and Chuck did... whatever Chuck did, Arthur strode purposefully (but stealthily) into the room, yanked open a cupboard, shoved its entire contents into a bag, turned on his heel, and fled left the room in a dignified huff.

It was, as they say, entirely too cold for any kind of nonsense.

(He was going to regret not looking in the cupboard later.)

Jack was wearing far too many layers of clothing today, including a poncho that looked like it started life off as a rug. But, he had to eat, and this common room smelled the most like food, so here he was.

At least it was warmer than his room.

Azula noted Jack entering the room with a lift of an eyebrow.
