She sat down by the empty firepit of Galaxy Quest.  It was too hot for a fire, but that didn't stop her from eyeing the firepit expectantly.  ( Read more... )

Valentine wasn't general one to go out of her way unless she had to or she knew she was getting something good out of it, so seeing Rose at the campfire outside the cabin already meant this was a good place to sit and be semi-social for a little while. She took a seat on a log, tilting her head at the firepit.

"No fire?" she asked.

"I'm trying something different tonight," Rose said, giving Valentine a quick smile.

She lied. She just failed at making fires.

"Breaking the expectant campfire motif?" Valentine asked. "Daring. And the kitten?"

"That's me," Rose chuckled. "Reckless and daring in all matters of fire." She eyed the kitten for a second. "That would be our fellow student Worf. He's just as violent in cat form as Klingon."

"Rose!" Jack was happy to see her (and therefore a pleasant distraction), especially given the racket that was coming from one end of his cabin. "It's been ages. You got a kitten!"

"Jack!" Rose replied, grinning to see him. She eyed the kitten. "Nooo, that's Worf. I'm apparently watching him until the island decides to turn him back."

"Really? He's much more adorable as a kitten," Jack said, amused and cheered.

Not that Worf was a rival, or anything. Just ... it was cheering. Somehow. "How long's he been like that?

"Isn't he?" Rose laughed. "He had a lovely bow the other day. He very much enjoyed it too." Right up until he shredded it, right. "It's been since - Wednesday, I think. Hopefully he's adjusting to life as a cat."

What was with all the extra people around this weekend? Leda wandered over to a group of non-extra people and plopped down on the ground.

"Was there another influx of students and I missed it?"

"Did you miss last weekend?" Rose asked curiously. "Because other than that, no."

"No I was here for that. Maybe I just haven't met everyone yet."

"Could be," Rose agreed. "Did radio say anything about it?"

Without having to worry about entertaining his roommate any longer, Bobby was finding himself, quite frankly, more than a little bored. Hence wandering around.

"Rose! Hey!" he flopped down on a seat by the firepit.

"Bobby," Rose said, grinning over at him. "Been getting in lots of trouble?"

"Trouble? Me?" he looked at Rose wide-eyed. "Have you been talking to Jean?"

Rose cracked up. "Should I?"

Diana was bored and none of her objects had turned into people and she had run out of conversation topics with her cat, so there she was. "Cabin mate."

"That's what they tell me," Rose said with a grin. "Enjoying our time roughing it?"

"Extremely. So much that I'm counting the days until I'm back with normal civilization."

"Oh, come on," she argued. "It's not that bad. There's air conditioning and stuff."
