5th Floor Common Room, Thursday Night

Jan 15, 2009 19:57

Normally, Dōjima wouldn't worry about a laundry strike. That's why she owned acres of clothing, so that she didn't need to worry about what to wear. But stuff was missing from her closet, and the only clean things left were her clubbing gear or her workout clothes.

Which is why she was all dressed up, sprawled on a couch while watching Steel Read more... )

Warren had to get out of his room. The disappearance of his favorite t-shirt- the kind of grubby black one with the phoenix on the front of it- had him more than a little irritated, and if he spent any more time rifling through his dresser to no avail it was likely he was going to attempt to throw the whole thing out the window.

And so, armed with a plate of fortune cookies from earlier that week, his most ratty blue jeans, and his leather coat (but delightfully and sadly without a shirt underneath), he was putting some distance between himself and his dresser by migrating up to the fifth floor common room.

...

"Good movie."

And he didn't even have to read the subtitles. Score.

"Arigato," Dōjima answered absently, glancing up for just a second to see who it was before going back to the movie. Random kid. Cool. "I like this one. It sucks that they tweaked the film to take out a lot of the physical comedy and the political stuff, but I guess they had to market it to American audiences."

"They just don't appreciate the good stuff out here," Warren noted, holding the plate of cookies toward her. Hey. She didn't have to know he helped make up whatever messed-up fortune she happened to get if she took one. "Cookie?"

Yes. He was shameless.

Free food? Score. "Tell me about it," Dōjima bitched, reaching out to grab a few. "Don't get me wrong, Japan has its share of bad television, but at least we know it's bad. And there's nothing quite like a good martial arts film."

Hurley wandered into the common room, now down to wearing a robe over some pajamas. Tomorrow's work would be... interesting.

"Hey," he said, before he plopped onto a couch. Then he realized what she was wearing. "Wow."

Dōjima glanced up and offered a quick wave. He had been in her cooking class... Henry? No. "Hey, Hurley," she answered. "Hope you don't mind kung-fu."

"Dude, who minds kung fu?" Hurley said. "We worked together in cooking class once, yeah?"

Dōjima grinned and nodded. "Yup!" she answered. "I even passed the class, too. I don't know how, but I did!"

Romeo, meanwhile, was wearing an oversized Hawaiian shirt and khakis with a mustard stain.

"I feel underdressed," he informed his girlfriend as he took a seat near her.

"I'd offer to put you in one of my skirts again, but you're the wrong shape, and I'm already missing half my wardrobe," Yurika teased, smiling as he came over. "You run a clothing store, aijin, just go get something pretty."

"... but it's cold," Romeo whined.

Meaning he hadn't thought of that.

"So? The sooner you go, the sooner you get back, and then I can warm you up." The look she shot him was positively naughty, and Yurika winked at him.

"But you're right. It's dark and cold outside, and going into town now would be insane."

Ino was... in her pajamas. Not because she was missing her clothing, but because a) they were comfy and b) she'd felt like it.

"Is there pain and doom in that?" she asked while wandering over to poke around for something to munch on. "If a movie has pain and doom I'm a lot less likely to be bored. Hi, Dōjima-san."

"Pain, doom, and total humiliation of the bad guys," Dōjima said cheerfully. "Ohaiyo, Yamanaka-san. Grab a seat!"

She wandered out from the kitchen area with a few chocolate covered granola bars in her hand and flopped down in one of the chairs.

"See, now, that makes this worth watching," Ino laughed as she unwrapped a bar. "I tend to get bored with movies pretty easy, so yeah, but that sounds fun."

"You should like this, then. Lots of people hitting each other, all in the name of justice!" Dōjima laughed. "It's called 'Steel Simian', and supposedly it's based on a true story."
