2nd Floor Common Room - Tuesday Evening

Jun 10, 2008 17:04

Meg wanted to reward herself after working hard today. A cupcake sort of reward. So after showering (she had been playing in the dirt all day) she headed to the kitchen to see if there were any cupcakes in the fridge. But there wasn't any. Not even regular cake. So she decided to take matters into her own hands and make her own damn reward. Meg's ( Read more... )

Dean's food sense may have failed him with the pie yesterday but it was working just fine today as he wandered in. "Girlfriend baking. Can't ask for much more than that. At least not involving a stripper pole."

"Hey, if you had been in my feminism class last year you would have been able to see me use a stripper pole," Meg said, as she iced a cupcake. It looked like she was getting more icing on her hands than on the baked goods. It had been a tough day and her focus was a little off. "Also, hi."

"Now you're just taunting me with the possibilities," Dean teased, coming over to her side. "You need any help?"

"Yeah, you can help me by eating this one," Meg said, lifting up a cupcake. "I put too much icing on it."

Happy from a good dancing class, Giselle bounced into the common room. Not that it was the one on her floor but never mind that. "Oh my, are you baking? Did someone need cheering up or are these for the old lady who lives in the wood or is it a friend's birthday?"

"Uh, the first one? Sort of?" Meg was sort of taken aback by the cheerfulness. Now she knew it was like when people met her for the first time. "I was working all day today and I thought I'd reward myself."

"What were you working at?" she asked curiously. "I'm sure you do deserve a reward!"

"I was helping the renovations in the park. I was planting flowers today," Meg explained. She did think she deserved an award. "I'm Meg, by the way."

Ella had gone to the common room in hopes of rummaging up some soup or a sandwich, and brightened when she saw the girl baking. "Is there anything I can help you with?"

"Now that I've stemmed the massive inflow of frosting I had going earlier I think I'm good. Thank you though," Meg said. "You're welcome to have one if you want."

"I can't say I think too much frosting is a tragedy," Ella grinned, taking a cupcake. "Thank you, they look wonderful. We haven't met, have we? I'm Ella."

"I'm Meg. I'm glad you're here," she said. "There was no way I could eat all these myself. I just wanted one but you can't make just one cupcake."

It seemed that cupcakes could draw out even the most reclusive of beasts from their lairs.

Not that Adah was the most reclusive of beasts. Not anymore, anyway, although she still, on occasioned liked to consider herself as such. She, her senses heightened by her recent literary foray into evolutionary processes, could smell them backing, and limped down to the common room to see how they were turning out. She was envisioning disasters of collapses cupcakes, like houses built on fault lands or sinkholes. Her notepad was tucked under her arm, but she wasn't sure whether she'd use it or not. Either way, she reached the door, tilted her head in curiosity and the unspoken but requisite question of whether there was sharing involved.

"Hey, Adah!" Meg said cheerfully. How could you not be cheerful when cupcakes where involved. She lifted a cupcake up. "Want one?"

They certainly seemed perfectly fine, although, really, with Meg, Adah would have expected it to have gone one of two ways: perpetually perfect for her perky self, or an under disaster, ala failure that wouldn't only be bested by Adah's eldest sister, also blonde. She realized they were certainly leaning more toward the perfect option. She found a place to set her notebook down, giving Meg a slight nod before holding out her hand.

Meg smiled as she handed Adah the cupcake. "I hope I didn't put too much icing on there. I think kind of went overboard."
