Fourth floor common room, Friday evening

After being bit by gremlins and making an emergency stop at a janitor's closet that for some reason had matching costumes in their sizes, Jim, John, Gavin, and Karal made their way to the common room.

And then...

"Lollipop lollipop
Oh lolli lolli lolli
Lollipop *weird finger-to-cheek popping noise*"

John agreed Jim would be nothing without him, what with them being SOULMATES and all. With this in mind, John continued the song.

John reached out and grabbed hold of Jim's hand, looking deeply at his hat.

"Did I ever tell you you're my hero?

'cause you are the wind beneath my wings."

Karal and Gavin continued their humming as John dropped Jim's hand and reclaimed his place in line.

Jim held his hat above his heart once more and sang to John's forehead again.

"Oh, the wind beneath my wings.

Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings."

The arm not holding the hat? Flapping as Gavin and Karal hummed some more.

so high I almost touch the sky.
Thank you, thank you,
thank God for you, the wind beneath my wings."

Jim put his hat back on, took John's hand, and they both bowed to the audience.

And the lights dimmed, spotlighting the four boys in the middle of the common room as a hush fell over the crowd.

Gavin stepped forward and then started to sing with the other boys humming in tune as backup.

"We were drawn from the weeds
We were brave like soldiers
Falling down under the pale moonlight

Like someone broken
And I couldn't tell you, but I'm telling you now"

And then he stepped back into the swaying, humming line.

As Gavin stepped back, Karal stepped forward, singing soulfully.

He returned to the line, swaying along as he resumed humming.

As Karal stepped back, John took up the main lyrics, singing nasally.

As John finished his part, Jim stepped forward, taking the lead.

After Jim rejoined the line, Gavin stepped out again, holding his hat high above his head and singing powerfully, deeply and emotionally to it.

As Gavin stepped back, John stepped forward.

"You may need me there

He sang with extreme levels of emotional intensity.

Karal stepped forward, voice nearly breaking because the song was just that powerful.

He managed to keep it together, and stepped back into line.

Jim took Karal's place and went into his 'deep' 'baritone' again.

Jim's face suddenly looked panicked.

As soon as Gavin stepped forward to take his turn, something happened and oh my god, it happened AGAIN.

"Ever the...same.

He was rapidly turning pale and looking, again, for a place to flee.

Karal stayed where he was and his eyes got very, very wide at the same time he went very, very red. "Ever the... Eeep!"

"Ever the same?" he asked, suddenly horrified by the words as sanity returned. And there was an audience to make it that much worse.

Jim stared at the crowed for a moment before saying the single best possible word for the moment.

"Run."

Gavin took off towards the door, limbs flailing wildly.

Never ever coming out of his room again.
