Fourth floor common room, Friday evening

Oct 12, 2007 21:55

After being bit by gremlins and making an emergency stop at a janitor's closet that for some reason had matching costumes in their sizes, Jim, John, Gavin, and Karal made their way to the common room.

And then...

"Lollipop lollipop
Oh lolli lolli lolli
Lollipop *weird finger-to-cheek popping noise*"

Where the boys sing. And possibly take requests.

John stepped to the front, hat on is head, shockingly.

"And tell me I'm your own.
Hello! Hello! Hello there!"

They took a group bow, that would've been better if they'd ever practiced this song together before, and held out their hats to the audience. Tips were not to be turned down.

Jim stepped up to lead the boys in the next song.

"A one, and a two, and a three.."

Jim, when not gremlin-bitten, played the guitar. Not really well, but decently. As a singer, he was a fantastic guitar player.

"Baby on board, how I've adored,
That sign on my car's windowpane
A bounce in my step; loaded with pep,
'Cause I'm driving in the carpool lane."

It was a good thing John believed himself to be an excellent barbershop quartet singer, otherwise he'd feel like an idiot taking over the lead on the next verse of this song.

Call me a square; friend, I don't care
That little yellow sign can't be ignored
I'm telling you it's mighty nice
Each trip's a trip to paradise
With my baby on board.

At the end there was a magnificently bad slide, followed by much bowing and hat tipping.

Suddenly, Karal leapt forward, pointing out over the audience.

"It's astounding;
Time is fleeting;
Madness takes its toll.
But listen closely...

And Gavin jumped forward, almost like he was walking on hot coals. He decided to go for the high note on this one.

"Not for very much longer..."

Somehow, who knows why, it just seemed natural to turn back towards Gavin and sing the next bit directly to him.

"I've got to keep control.
I remember doing the time-warp
Drinking those moments when
The darkness would hit me..."

And Gavin, who would hate himself tomorrow, slung an arm around Karal's neck and they sang together:

"And a void would be calling..."

Jim hopped forward, waving his hat wildly as he harmonized:

"Let's do the time-warp again.
Let's do the time-warp again."

John, who would hate Gavin tomorrow, led them all as they began to really dance.

"It's just a jump to the left.
And then a step to the right.
With your hands on your hips.
You bring your knees in tight.
But it's the pelvic thrust
That really drives you insane."

Just like the first time, Jim stepped forward, limbs flailing.

"Let's do the time-warp again.
Let's do the time-warp again."

And then Gavin, on tip toes and very nearly strutting, threw an imaginary boa over his shoulder and pitched his voice high again.

"It's so dreamy, oh fantasy free me.
So you can't see me, no, not at all.
In another dimension, with voyeuristic intention,
Well secluded, I see all."

Karal started slowly circling Gavin. "With a bit of a mind flip."

And Gavin waved his hat in front of Karal's face.

"You're into the time slip."

Still with the high voice.

Karal clutched his hat to his chest. "And nothing can ever be the same."

And Gavin nearly started screeching.

"You're spaced out on sensation!"
