Second Floor Common Room - Tuesday Morning

Meg didn't have class until Wednesday but she didn't want to get in the habit of sleeping in all day so when she woke up she got dressed and decided to check out the common room. It wasn't long before she was digging around in the kitchen and soon after she had eggs, bacon and pancakes cooking on the stove

A lack of classes on Tuesday meant that Adah would be able to stay on her floor, not have to move around too much, which was good, as she might have overdone it a bit yesterday. She had been curled up in her bed, ready to read some more, when the scent of cooking caught her attention, pulled her brain in the direction of the common room almost violently. Meat, of sorts, the unmistakable aroma of flesh, burning, simmering in faint juices of its own fat, and it almost left her stomach turning. Bacon, she realized a moment longer. How long had it been since she'd had bacon? The combination of brain and stomach rebelling against words out of curiosity had Adah limping toward the common room. She limped over, leaned on the door frame to peer in. A small rumble from her stomach preceded her thought of trying to remember when the last time she even ate was.

Meg spotted the girl and gave her a friendly smile. "Hi! You want to come in and eat? I made enough for everyone. At least I think I did..."

Think she did? One glance over what the other girl was making and it seemed enough to feed the whole village of Kilanga. It was guaranteed to taste better than fufu, too, but that could be problematic, as her pallet had gotten far too used to fufu, its bland taste, its rib-sticking consistency, the vain attempts of her mother to add this or that to give it some sort, any sort of flavor. There were eggs, though. Adah knew she could eat eggs, and this girl wasn't even burning them like Rachel did. After a moment of hesitation, Adah limped further into the room at the invitation, giving a nod of appreciation to the other girl as her stomach did flip-flop, indecisive, unsure as to whether it was eager or overwhelmed.

Meg kind of felt bad that the girl had a limp but didn't want to draw any attention to it just in case that was a sore point with her. Instead she smiled again and said, "Eat as much as you want. I like to cook so I have no problem with making more."

"Morning! You want some food?" she pointed at the pancakes and bacon. "I've made plenty. Perhaps too much."

"You do raise a good point." Meg said. "I'm Meg Manning, new kid."

It was warm out on the roof last night, a bit uncomfortably warm, really. Still, Cassandra had managed to get nearly five hours of sleep, which was more than she usually got, so when she finally makes her way down to the second floor she's smiling sleepily.

Then she smelled the food and moved instinctually toward it. She poked her head around a corner curiously, covering a yawn with her hand, "Hello?"

"Hi!" Meg said cheerfully. "Come in, eat, be merry."

"Are you sure?" Cassandra sounded a bit doubtful. She wasn't precisely used to being offered free food. But then her stomach rumbled loudly, since the only thing she'd had to eat yesterday was a muffin, and she shrugged and walked over with a grin.

"Anything I can do to help?"

"I'm totally sure. I've made a ton as it is." Meg said, pointing to a large stack of pancakes. "I love to cook."

"Actually, could you grab some juice or something out of the fridge?" Meg asked, pointing the spatula she was holding at the fridge. "I kinda forgot to break out the beverages."

The smell of bacon had Johnny walking down the hall towards the common room. What? Free food that he didn't have to cook? Hell yeah.

"Hey new girl I've yet to meet," he said by way of greeting Meg.

"Hey guy who I haven't met yet." she said. "Have some food."

"Are there conditions or is it just free?" Cute blonde. "I'm Johnny Storm by the way."

"No strings attached-this time." she said with a grin. "I'm Meg Manning."

Hoshi didn't have any classes this morning. She was wandering around the dorms until she noticed the aroma of food and followed it to the second floor common room. She was still feeling kind of shy, so when she got there, she kind of gravitated to the corner of the room.

Meg waved at the girl when she spotted her. "Hey! You want some food? I've made a ton."

Hoshi smiled at the other girl. "Thanks," she said, helping herself. "My name is Hoshi Sato. I don't think we've met yet."

"Meg Manning." she said. "I'm pretty new so I haven't met a lot of people. Are you new too or have you been here for a while?"
