Chupacabra campfire: Tuesday night

May 30, 2007 09:23

He'd been warned about gremlins and monsters and all manner of strangeness. Pity no one had thought to warn Karal about the weather. If they had, he might have done something besides watch in fascination as the snowflake slowly drifted out of the sky and landed on the tip of his nose ( Read more... )

Having spent the whole day in the gym sparring, Setsuna was ready to just get to her campfire and relax a little.

And, of course, found herself at Chupacabra instead.

Foot, meet ground. //"Dammit!"// She sighed and dropped down on a log. She was here; might as well get comfortable.

"Good evening, Setsuna." He inclined his head towards her graciously. "Have you come to seek advice? Or the blessing of the Sunlord?"

After all, what other reason could there be for her to seek out his presence?

"Hm?" Setsuna turned her head. "Oh. Hello, Karal. I didn't even see you there." Although, really, she realized with a small smile, she should have. It was his cabin's campfire, after all.

He drew himself up straighter. Hadn't noticed him? How could she not notice him?! No, no, she was a troubled child, it was not her fault. "Do strange compulsions still draw you this cabin?" Perhaps it was not a spell, as he'd feared, but the Hand of the Sunlord, shepparding her towards him for guidance.

After leaving the Basilisk campfire, Jaina came back to Chupacabra, muttering something about insane people.

"You seem troubled, my friend. Have you come to seek guidance?" he asked, already knowing the answer. Of course she had! "The Sunlord's grace is given to all, even those who do not believe." Up to a certain point, that is, for all should follow Vkandis Sunlord.

"Um, not so much guidance. More avoiding guys asking me to check them for bites," she said.

Karal steepled his fingers together. "I do not believe that you should be inspecting men for bites, or for anything else. It is not seemly. Perhaps that is why you seem troubled, knowing their words were not appropriate." The Writ and the Rule were very clear on what was and was not acceptable for women. A priest of his stature must adhere to them, and educate those who were ignorant of it. "I trust you did not do so?"

"Hey Karal," Edward said as he came out of the cabin. "Whoa. You got a lot of gold on."

Finally! Someone who recognised his importance. Sort of. "I am dressed as befits a Priest of Vkandis of my stature," he said, inclining his head in gracious welcome. "Though the lack of a headdress is most vexing." As was the fact that he was sleeping in a communal cabin in the woods, but one problem at a time.

He stared. "Uhh, well, your hair looks fine like it is so I wouldn't really worry about it."

He stared back, momentarily confused as to what role hair had to play. "The headdress is part of the formal robes. I will arrange to have a full formal set of vestments sent from home at the earliest opportunity. I must reflect the Glory of the Sunlord." Because, of course, He had nothing more important to do than worry about priestly fashion.

Donnie headed outside for some socialization and was taken aback by Karal's appearance, which was... a lot shinier thhan normal. "Evening. Are you dressed up for something tonight?"

Karal had thus far had a very trying evening, but he still smiled graciously at Donatello. Because a priest must rise above such petty annoyances as he'd experienced. "I am dressed to reflect the glory of Vkandis," he said proudly. "And the depth of my faith."

Donatello cocked his head slightly. "Oh... Are you a priest then? Or something similar?"

Obviously he had not been living up to his role, if his cabin mate was unaware of what he was. "I am a Sun-priest of Vkandis Sunlord, Envoy of Karse, and chosen of the Avatar of Vkandis," he intoned, bowing his head slightly and spreading his arms wide.
